Ultraceuticals appoints new CEO

Ultraceuticals Australia has appointed globally-renowned businesswoman Karen Wilkin-Donachie as CEO. Wilkin-Donachie has a wealth of experience, with notable roles as Vice President Sales, Distribution and Education for AVEDA North America and Managing Director of Aroma Science ANZ as the exclusive distributor of AVEDA.

“After receiving many positive reviews about Ultraceuticals from respected industry peers, I was excited to return to Australia and work alongside a brand with a reputable history, strong science ethos, and amazing potential to continue developing into a global player in the beauty space,” Wilkin-Donachie told Professional Beauty.

“Our Founder, Dr. Geoffrey Heber has an ambitious vision to globalise the brand, and it is my role to ensure we bring his vision to reality. “

Ms. Wilkin-Donachie went on to say that her primary focus at Ultraceuticals will be partnering with Dr Herber and the Australian team to develop and implement various strategies that will ensure the brand reaches its full potential.

“I believe partnering with entrepreneurs to help them succeed has been the foundation of my success, and this will continue to be a major focus in my new role at Ultraceuticals.  Our goal is to empower our dedicated clinics and salons with innovative efficacious, science based products that deliver real results, supported by industry leading business and technical education.”

Most recently Karen has consulted with industry leaders, and led multi-channelled beauty and beauty education businesses.  In her role as CEO for a global professional beauty education business, she led the creation of innovative educational programs and tools for the beauty industry.

Karen’s career highlights have included being a leading innovator for AVEDA within Australia and North America. During this time, Karen launched and rolled out globally their powerful business and education program, Aveda Business College. The program ensured business owners were given valuable tools to run their businesses efficiently and with better, sustainable results.

During her tenure at Pivot Point, Karen launched one of the first learning management systems (LMS), moving from books to online for the professional industry.

Karen has also had extensive experience locally within department stores and distributors. She commenced her early career at Myer in numerous roles including Client Services, Sales Management of Cosmetics, HR and Organisational Development.

Karen’s qualifications consist of an MBA from RMIT University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Physiology from The University of Queensland.

During Karen’s 15 years abroad in the U.S, she has spent the majority of her residency in Chicago, Minneapolis and New York. She is now looking forward to a new life back in Australia with her husband and Australian family, enjoying the Australian lifestyle she missed so much.

My passion has always been working with beauty entrepreneurs to help them grow and develop sustainable businesses, while fulfilling their mission of helping their clients feel better about themselves.  It’s very exciting to be working with an innovative Australian brand, which also allows me to leverage my local and global experience.
