Hair Expo opens in style with an exclusive preview

On Monday evening, Hair Expo hosted an exclusive media preview of the weekend at Jayne Wild’s Milsons Point salon in Sydney, Wild Life Origin. Media were served champagne and canapés as six of Australia’s best hairdressers and make-up guru, Rae Morris, gathered to showcase what they will be presenting as part of this year’s exhibition.

Replacing the usual opening press conference, media were invited to watch each of the artists at work, conduct interviews and take pictures and videos as they did so – allowing them to get a preview of the event well in advance of Expo. In a night of colour and style, the unobstructed view of Sydney Harbour’s VIVID festival made the perfect backdrop for the event.

Jayne Wild, current Australian Hairdresser of the Year, gave a glimpse of her opening night gala show – including two of her now famous “poppets” that she is re-styling for the event; Brad Ngata showed some of the hair-crafting to be expected at his seminar with Damien Rinaldo and Caterina Di Biase, who herself recreated a look from her Australian Hairdresser of the Year finalist collection, including Showpony extensions.

Joey Scandizzo also created a look from his AHOTY finalist collection, as he presented products from his new hair care range, ELEVEN Australia; Frank Apostolopoulos provided a look into the Biba Creative Team’s Look ‘n’ Learn session with a short, geometric haircut; New Creative Force finalist, Ryan Mitchell, showed off his styling skills with a modern beehive on Australia’s Next Top Model finalist, Kelsey Martinovich; and Rae Morris performed mini-makeovers, sharing a few tips from her seminar on getting a good make-up look in minutes.

Guests not only took away insider knowledge from some of the best in the business, but also a selection of new products from the night’s sponsors ELEVEN Australia, ghd, Sebastian Professional and Wella System Professional.
