Artav continues expansion

After more than 60 years supplying salons and clinics with professional hair and beauty products, Artav Australia is continuing to expand its Adelaide-based business – with a strong focus on protecting the environment at the same time.

Artav Australia director Andrew Taverna says the company, which is planning “significant changes” in the next few years, is continually looking to find ways to reduce any impact on the environment “from the use of sustainable packaging to a rainwater reclaiming and recycling process”.

The company began its new expansion plans with the commissioning of two machines last year (a screen printing machine and a tube-filling machine which both provide “increased output on lesser consumption”) and plan to install a solar power system to enable the entire business to run exclusively on solar energy within a few years.

Started in the early 1950s by qualified hairdresser and beautician Arturo Taverna with a salon in the city of Adelaide, Artav Australia is now firmly established as a manufacturer and supplier of professional hair care and beauty products that “suit a variety of needs and tastes”.

Artav is still privately owned and managed by the Taverna family. Arturo and his two sons Anthony and Andrew manage Artav’s operations, while Arturo’s daughters Jeannette and Sonia are also involved in the business.

According to Andrew, the family’s combined knowledge and experience in the hair and beauty industry, as well as established support from a network of distributors and salons, enable the company to constantly develop and deliver market-leading products which are all developed and tested by a team of in-house and associated hairdressers, beauty therapists and chemists ‒ and are manufactured in Australia “to a consistently high-quality standard to be environmentally safe and cruelty free at competitive prices globally”.

Artav manufactures a wide range of products under the same roof in their Regency Park facilities including Natural Look hair and beauty products which offer a wide selection of shampoos, conditioners, hair styling products, solid and liquid depilatory waxes, pre- and post-waxing solutions, hair reduction creams, skin care, pedicure and manicure products, self- and professional-tanning and paraffin treatments.

Artav also offers businesses a contract packaging and private label service “to develop products from start to finish”. Andrew says the company “manages the entire process from the initial consultation and formulation right through to label design and packaging”. “This helps smaller businesses to have access to affordable, sustainable products whilst maintaining strict quality control at all times,” he says.
