Master Symposium puts Facial Plastic Surgery in the Spotlight

“The future is looking good” is the key message of Dr George Marcells, President of the Australasian Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, ahead of the group’s annual meeting being held at the University of Western Australia, Perth, 14-16 March.

Dr George Marcells President of the AAFPS
Master Symposium and Cadaver Dissection, with emphasis on Rhinoplasty (nose surgery) and Facial Rejuvenation, brings together fully registered specialists who perform aesthetic and reconstructive procedures of the face, head and neck.

Sixty facial plastic surgeons from Australia and around the world are expected to attend the meeting where they will explore topics ranging from Fundamentals of Rhinoplasty, Facelift and Facial Rejuvenation Surgery, including Profileplasty (reducing a prominent nose thereby bringing the brows and chin into balance), Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) and Otoplasty (ear correction surgery).

“There will be opportunities to exchange information on contemporary techniques and concepts, view instructional video presentations and participate in interactive and panel discussions on finesse and complicated cases,” says Dr Marcells.

“These forums promote ongoing excellence and a sharing of information which advances medical knowledge, ultimately benefiting patients. Patient safety and achieving results that are both functionally sound and aesthetically satisfying are the fundamentals.

“Techniques are always evolving. Recent advances I am especially interested in include Rib Graft Rhinoplasty (in both primary and revision cases) and, of course, the Deep Plane Facelift, which delivers a more natural looking result without that tell-tale ‘pulled’ appearance.

“With continuing developments and a commitment to education in the field of facial plastic surgery, it’s more possible than ever before to keep those who want to look as young as they feel looking good into the future.”
