Nail and Makeup Competitions Open for Entries

The Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo is calling for entries to the Manifest Nail Awards and the Face 2 Face Makeup Awards for 2012.

This year, the ‘Manifest’ Nail Awards takes a new direction with internationally renowned expert Tracey Boyle as the 2012 Nail Awards coordinator.

Tracey Boyle is a 16-year veteran of the nail and beauty industry and has judged numerous shows on a global scale including the UK Nail Awards. With her international experience and training, she will be aiming to grow and develop the Sydney and Australian competitions to have a reputation within the global nail industry.

Tracey has designed this year’s competition to give technicians both greater choice and more opportunity to grow. The ‘Manifest’ Nail Awards include the following categories:

• Photographic Nail Art – The Oscars theme
• Photographic Natural Nails – The Oscars theme
• Fantasy Runway – The Oscars theme
• 3D Nail Art – London 2012 theme
• Flat Nail Art – London 2012 theme
• Embedded Nail Art – London 2012 theme

Classic categories remain this year along with an additional category of:

• Manicure
• Tips & Overlay
• Sculpting
• Gel Polish

This year, the nail technician with the highest overall points through the competition will be awarded the Robert Bowrey Perpetual Trophy with a $1000 cash prize.

The ‘Face 2 Face’ Makeup Awards feature makeup and body artist Becca Gilmartin as the 2012 Makeup Awards Coordinator with the introduction of two new categories.

Becca Gilmartin brings experience from working at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week and Australia’s Next Top Model to this year’s competition.

“In 2012, we are reinventing the Makeup Awards as the platform for every kind of makeup artist to explore their craft, push their own personal limits and display excellence on a national competition level not yet seen in Australia,” Becca says.

The new categories include:

• Photographic Editorial – offers makeup artists interested in editorial and fashion work an amazing opportunity. Entrants have the chance to win two days with Rae Morris including one day backstage at a fashion show and one day one-on-one lesson with Rae plus a professional beauty photo of your work done on that day.
• Film & Fantasy Special Effects – The Oscars theme

Other categories include the following:

• Runway Inspired – Spring Summer 2012 Collections theme
• Film & Fantasy – The Oscars theme
• The Modern Bride

Prizes for other categories include a Mentorship with the Green Brush Project, a selection of Rae Morris brushes, a copy of all three Rae Morris’ books and other cash prizes.
