Erika Heynatz to join Aveda Walk for Water

Australian media personality Erika Heynatz will join eco-beauty brand Aveda on their annual "Walk for Water" taking place on April 23rd, 2012.

During the month of April, Aveda’s 2012 Earth Month campaign will connect its network of hair and skincare professionals, fellow beauty industry and media in more than 30 countries around the globe seeking to raise US$4.5 million for awareness and protection of clean water – a basic human right that nearly 900 million people globally are left fighting for daily.

The Aveda Walk For Water, now in its 13th year, is an initiative to raise awareness and acknowledge the daily struggle of people around the world who do not have access to clean water. This affects a staggering 1 in 7 people globally.

Australian model, singer, actress and television personality Erika Heynatz is leading the charge on Aveda’s Walk For Water. Erika will be joined by television host and landscape architect Brendan Moar, along with a number of other Australian media personalities. Erika, Brendan and all of Aveda's special guests will be generously donating their time to help raise awareness for this devastating global issue.

Erika Heynatz said of the walk: "To walk with purpose is a truly great feeling. This month I join Aveda's Walk for Water as their ambassador as a part of their Earth Month initiative. How is this walk any different to my usual trot around the block in the hopes of burning a few calories, catching up on some gossip with a friend and sucking in some fresh air? I'll be joining a network of water warriors, all around the world, who will walk 6 kilometers, symbolic of the average distance women in developing countries walk each day to collect water for their families. It's incredible to learn that 4,000 children in developing countries die each day from preventable conditions directly linked to the consumption of the unsafe water each day.

"Every step I take on Monday 23rd during Aveda's Walk for Water will generate contributions to WaterAid, enabling the world's poorest people gain access to safe water and sanitation – something we all take for granted as a basic human right… Join me in a beautiful trek between Bronte and Bondi, that will take on a whole new meaning!"
