Cosmoprof Bologna’s spa and beauty focus

Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna’s Spa & Beauty section will boast an exhibition area of 30,000 square metres, hosting over 500 international spa and wellness companies.

As part of the show’s spa component, the “Cosmoprof Spa&Beauty Symposium” will provide a forum for spa industry players from around the world to meet for three days of debate, interacting and improving awareness of the spa market. Twenty internationally celebrated speakers attend.

Andrew Gibson (Group Director Spa – Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group – Hong Kong), Daniella Russell (Independent Consultant Lifestyle-Spa-Wellness – Universal Wellness – Dubai) and Tolja Jader (Professor Master of Design at DOMUS Academy, Milano – Italy) will examine the impacts of local culture on spa development, underlining the need to shift from the “globalisation” to the “glocalisation” concept. The relationship between man and his body in the different parts of the world will be examined to highlight how generally a Spa, in order to operate successfully, cannot ignore the respect for the social and cultural structure where it is integrated.

Saturday 17 April, is “Zero Impact Day”. Valérie Parenty (Consulting Director at Saguez Partners – France), Penelope Tympanidis (Consultant Dermatologist at Benostan Ltd. – Greece), and Mark Wuttke (Principal of the Wuttke Group LLC – USA), will examine the “green-washing” concept, to find substance and meaning in the exploited term, “green”. Environmental impact issues of relevance to spa will also be considered, such as energy-saving and water recycling.

Other conferences will focus on water therapy trends and comparing the experience of the spa industry and beauty salons.

An “Adopt a Day-Spa” project will focus on how young people can become successful entrepreneurs by investing in the business of spas and beauty salons. Case histories of successful start-ups will be explored and there will be a survey of the required supports to start one’s business.

Spa architecture will be showcased in Life Style Spa.

A 30-person buyer delegation, made up of hotel managers and distributors, will attend the exhibition for two days of business to business meetings aimed at creating direct and tailor-made contact to encourage new business opportunities. Cosmoprof has also entered into an agreement with the European Hotel Manager Association to create a networking platform in Bologna that promotes relations and business ideas between the hotel and the spa worlds.
