Bauhaus Hair and Napoleon Perdis celebrate Sabatini White’s 20th Anniversary

Last Friday morning, April 29, 2011, much-loved New Zealand fashion label Sabatini celebrated 20 years in Australia with a VIP breakfast and fashion show at the ever-so-stylish Café Sydney. Professional Beauty went backstage to get the lowdown on everything hair and make-up.

Led by Salon Director Liz Tagla, with team members including Michael Mesiti, the Great Lengths maestro, and senior LA BIOSTHETIQUE educators Kirsty Conias and Alexander Fuchs, the Bauhaus team created the direction, which was inspired by a modern-day warrior princess. The look was strong, yet sleek.

“Working with Bauhaus was a creative pleasure; they brought our vision into a reality,” said Margi Milich, Sabatini’s Creative Director.

There were 13 models in total. Two of them, the girl of the moment Samantha Harris, and Anna Tunhav, had Great Lengths hair extensions woven into their hair to create added volume. It was noted Samantha loved them so much she didn’t want them taken out.

Make-up by Napoleon Perdis was inspired by 60s Twiggy meets 90s icon Hemlut Newton. Underlying yet fierce, the models wore double lash extensions, pouted deep burgundy lips, and a donned a Marilyn Monroe-esque beauty mark.

"The eyelashes combined with a burgandy lip and contoured cheeks gives the models a real sense of strength," said International Napoleon make-up artist Rebecca Prior."

She continued, "The look is almost doll-like with a paler skin."

Before the show, guests enjoyed Café Sydney’s breakfast canapés of fresh fruit and yogurt, Croque Monsieur, crab tarts and mini muffins. French Champagne and fresh juice was sipped while the crowd mingled overlooking the glorious Sydney Harbour.

Key media and fashion industry notables attended the event prior to the Fashion Week rush including, Vogue Editor Kirstie Clements, make-up king Napoleon Perdis, chef and nutritionist Zoe Bingly- Pullin, Eva Galambos of Parlor X, horse racing identity Kate Waterhouse and Model’s Annalise Braakensiek and Alyce Crawford (Australia’s Next Top Model).
