Babor launches new cosmeceutical range

On Monday June 15, Babor Cosmetics Australia held a trade launch for its new Dr Babor cosmeceutical range at Aria restaurant at Circular Quay in Sydney.

Babor says the product has been in the making at its laboratories for over four years, developed in conjunction with German cosmetic surgeon, Dr Michael Konig.

Managing Director of Babor Cosmetics Australia, Donna Waite, welcomed attendees and introduced guest speaker, Sydney-based plastic surgeon, Dr Mark Kohout, who spoke about the role of effective skincare products pre- and post-cosmetic procedures.

Dr Kohout said it is important to use the most active skincare ingredients to minimise any side effects, such as skin pigmentation changes from procedures including IPL and laser, Fraxel, peels and microdermabrasion.
Dr Kohout mentioned ingredients such as retinols and other vitamin A derivatives, along with vitamins C and E, as useful for reducing post-operative inflammation.

According to Dr Kohout, topical hyaluronic acid, which features in the Dr Babor range, is coming to the fore as a hydrating ingredient.

Dr Kohout singled out daisy extract – which features in Dr Babor’s Spot Reducer Serum – as one of the newer plant ingredients with a skin lightening effect.

Taking questions from the audience, Dr Kohout was asked how the cosmetic surgery industry can work with the beauty industry. “By communication. No one treatment can do everything.”

Next, Babor’s Head Trainer, Anouk Thebault, outlined the products in the Dr Babor range.

The range comprises two lines: Biogen Cellular, for pre-surgery skin preparation and post-surgery healing, and Derma Cellular for people who don’t want cosmetic procedures, but want similar results.

This range includes an AHA Peel, “Botox” Pen, the Spot Reducer Serum and Collagen Booster Cream.

After the launch, Donna Waite said,

“The overwhelming response towards to the new Dr Babor range has been fantastic! Our stockists have been awaiting the arrival for quite a while, and have clients lining up to buy the new range.

"We already know one of the biggest sellers will be the ‘Botox’ pen, which gives similar results to that of Botox, without having to go through the pain.”
