Can Partnering with a Brand Offering a Large Product Line Boost Your Business?

Beauty business owners are challenged with the task of electing which companies to partner with for their treatments, retail products and training. With so many beauty salons and clinics operating out of Australia, all of which cater to the unique needs of their clients, no two treatment menus are the same.

One common denominator of skincare specialists, however, is the desire to partner with brands that offer efficacious and scientifically-backed product lines. In a world where it’s increasingly hard to cut through the beauty noise, sourcing the right topical solutions can be easier said than done.

It begs the question: when it comes to brands that offer a broader set of SKUs, can salons benefit more than those taking on a more limited range? With greater research comes the innovation of ingredients and delivery systems, creating a challenge for product formulators to curate their lines. For some brands, however, a limit to the size of their product portfolio doesn’t (and needn’t) exist.

It begs the question:
When it comes to brands that offer a broader set of SKUs, can salons benefit more than those taking on a more limited range?

For the chemists behind Juliette Armand’s R&D team, more is more. The multi award-winning brand has been in operation for three decades, and were early pioneers of the use of hyaluronic acid in their formulations. To this day, HA remains a “leading component” in the Juliette Armand product range “due to its exceptional ability to absorb and retain moisture – even up to 1000 times its weight in water,” Freda Christoforou, Managing Director of Juliette Armand Australia tells Professional Beauty.

But how much can be done with a single ingredient? Research centered around the powerhouse ingredient has found “unique benefits at various molecular weights, along with synergistic effects when paired with other ingredients.” HA serves as the primary element in Juliette Armand’s top-selling Hyaluronic Acid Serum. The brand’s Chronos Hydra Correct Serum uses five different types of HA as well as cross-linked HA. Freda explains.

More is more

With a strong base, Juliette Armand has seen the development of a staggering 450 SKUs in the brand’s lifetime, most of which (if not all of which) remain in production. In the brand’s everyday Elements range alone, 26 facials and 14 body treatments have been established. “The inception of a new product involves the intricate blend of creativity, imagination, and rigorous scientific methodologies, including stringent quality control measures,” Freda explains.

“The evolution of a product, however, commences post its introduction. We routinely track and refine our products based on a multitude of factors, including regulatory changes, economic shifts, scientific advancements, emerging trends, and sustainability considerations. The continual transformation of a product over the years is a vital aspect of our business model, with each product code holding a distinct place in our portfolio.” This attention to detail serves to justify Juliette Armand’s continued need for so many efficacious product alternatives.

Behind the brand’s decision to develop and retain so many products is the idea that formulas should deliver “a message; a personal dialogue”. For Juliette Armand founder Ioulia Armagou, “when I am at the lab researching and developing a new formulation, I see before me the needs of each person individually, as if I am about to create a personal line of skincare.”

Pros only

While Freda quips that the brand’s supply chain manager is kept busy with so many SKUs to manage, Juliette Armand’s objective “to equip beauty professionals with superior tools to address their customers’ needs and exceed their expectations” doesn’t wane. “We believe in the pivotal role that professionals play in enhancing the value of our products. It is crucial for professionals to thoroughly understand our product range, necessitating a certain degree of dedication and commitment.”

We firmly believe in the right of every individual to choose their desired aesthetics, providing choices that best compliment their persona. Our focus is on delivering products that uphold this principle, making beauty personal and accessible for all.”
