This radiant, glowing look is all about dewy, sun-kissed skin, warm golden hues, ultra highlighted cheekbones and soft, nude pink lips. For a luminous base, Victoria uses the Curtis Collection Airbrush Finish Mineral Foundation which offers a radiant, lightweight finish with flawless coverage. She then conceals and highlights using the Airbrush Finish Mineral Concealer and sets with the Deluxe Mineral Powder Foundation. A lifted, defined cheekbone is essential! Sculpt with the Island Goddess Illuminating bronzer. Then add your highlighter of choice, swept across the cheekbones, bridge of nose and cupids bow for the ultimate glow. Define the brows with a pencil, then set them in place with a gel. A glossy nude lip is key to this look, add a pinky-nude lipstick like Go Nude from Curtis Collection and top with a translucent gloss.

The Romantic:

This soft, romantic makeup look is ideal for any occasion. To create a dewy, polished complexion Victoria uses her multi-tasking BB Cream. This acts as a primer, foundation, moisturiser and SPF in one. She then builds coverage with the Airbrush Finish Mineral Concealer and contours and highlights with the Baked Bronzer in Island Goddess. Want more? Victoria applies Sun Goddess illuminating bronzer on cheeks, forehead and the bridge of the nose. For eyes, a soft nude palette with deep brown gel liner will keep the look defined and dreamy. Finish with a pop of pink, for this look, Victoria used Curtis Collection lipstick in Bebe Doll, topped with Lip Plum gloss in Seduction.

The Naked Glow:

A signature Curtis Collection look, the Naked Glow makeup is all about natural, luminous skin. To create the look Victoria uses the Skin Refining Face Primer mixed with one pump of Radiant Glow Illuminator for a hydrated, radiant base. Victoria then evens and perfects the complexion with the Naked Glow CC Cream – creating the ultimate no makeup, makeup look. A light contour is added with the Illuminating Bronzer in Sun Goddess, and cheeks are given a healthy flush by mixing Mineral Blush in Airess and Afterglow. This is topped with the Curtis Collection Highlighting Powder in Stardust. Brows are kept unstructured and soft with Curtis Collection Brow Tint With Fibres. Add a burst of hydration and hint of colour with Curtis Collection’s Vitamin C Lip Tint in Blushing and you’re good to go.

The mind behind the makeup: Victoria Curtis founder of Curtis Collection, By Victoria

What’s the secret to a great makeup range when there is so much choice on the market?

“My priority has always been to create products that address beauty concerns that are common amongst women. We consider issues such as dry or dull skin, dark circles, pigmentation, rosacea, thin brows or uneven skin tone, and our goal is to formulate or design a product that targets these concerns and offer solutions through the use of good quality makeup products. The key is to identify a need or opportunity in the market and educate your customers on how your products can meet this need.”

It has been a hard time for everyone in the industry again this year – how have you coped?

“Thankfully our customers have been extremely loyal during this time. We have been so grateful for their ongoing support and love of the Victoria Curtis Cosmetics brand. We have, like most, had to adjust to these unprecedented times, however, remaining positive and proactive has been the key. Continuing to evolve and move with the times has been key. Online has been strong and therefore it is important to invest in technology that supports the customer experience… especially as this is now mostly from home.

I personally have been focusing on new product launches and exciting future ventures so that positivity is always high and motivation levels are peaking. That is how I have always brought the best out in myself and my team.”

Any advice for makeup artists looking to develop their range?

“My advice is to do your research! Investigate your market and what you can do to offer them something unique. Not only with respect to your products but the experience with your brand overall. The competition in our market is fierce so you must ensure that you are committed to your goals and work towards them always. Small steps is always the best way to move forward with any project. It is unrealistic to set targets that you can not achieve in the short term, this will only lead to disappointment. The most successful business journeys always start small. That is the beauty of and the lesson that we often take out of them.”

I know education is hugely important to you – why is it such a critical component of business?

“Education is such a critical part of what we do. When our retailers and our customers have information available to them, this builds confidence in our products and also confidence in their makeup application, which means that they can get so much more out of their makeup. I believe in teaching our customers how they can create a look that they never thought was possible in a few simple steps. Often they are surprised, that with the use of only a few of our products, they can achieve a long-lasting, professional look. The most important part of our education program, however, is the skincare components in our products and the value of using mineral cosmetics for skin health, hydration and glow. Many of our clients are unaware that their makeup could in fact be damaging the integrity of their skin. Making a change to mineral makeup can often be the catalyst for instant results in their skincare program. We are proud of the fact that our formulas are retailed in hundreds of cosmetic and skin care clinics across Australia and New Zealand for this reason.”

What plans do you have for 2022?

“I have some very exciting plans for 2022 which I can not yet reveal… they do however tie into our skincare story and I can not wait to share the products that we will soon be offering our clients… watch this space!”
