OPI predicts autumn and winter colour trends

Karon McKendrick-Taylor, OPI educator and stylist has given us the run-down on the hottest colour trends this autumn and winter.

Based on the colour selection and overwhelming preference for a neutral palette at New York Fashion Week, nude nails will remain a huge trend throughout the year.

Hot colours for autumn include beige, tan, honey, chocolate, and pale grey to give fingertips a chic, minimalist look.

Not unlike the colours of the autumn season, golden shades of reds, bronzes, burnt oranges, rustic pinks, rich dark burgundy, purples and berry shades will also be the colours to watch for in autumn.

For the most popular creamy nude, caramel and beige shades, try Dulce De Leche, Cosmo-Not Tonight Honey and San Tan Tonio; for vibrant berry hues, try Pamplona Purple, Houston We Have A Purple and Lourve Me Lourve Me Not; for Mad Men-inspired red, try Color So Hot it Burns and From A-Zurich; for a warm, peachy tone, try Big Hair Big Nails; for warm hues, try Glitzerland, Brisbane Bronze, Bay Bridge Sunset and On the Same Page; and for rustic pinks, try It’s Possible (Nicole by OPI) and Chicago Champagne Toast.

After the autumn leaves disappear, the minimalistic shades of pale grey, creamy nudes, beige and silver tones will carry through to winter, however there will be a more dramatic contrasting look for winter nails.

Rich roasted nutmeg, chocolate browns and dark blood reds will feature heavily this winter, alongside dark green military greens and khaki shades. Midnight metallic blue and even dark metallic silver and grey will also be popular for those who are looking for a more dramatic look.

For roasted nutmegs and rich chocolates, try Suzi Loves Cowboys and I’m Suzi & I’m A Chocoholic; for metallic midnight blue and dramatic dark grey, try Light My Sapphire and My Private Jet; for Khaki military greens, try Here Today Aragon Tomorrow and Don’t Mess With OPI; and for dark blood reds, try Malaga Wine and Manicurist of Seville.
