Nail Art is all the rage at New York Fashion Week

Nails have become a fashion statement themselves with fashion designers opting for a combination of nude nails, pop colour or nail art at this week’s 2012 New York Fashion Week. OPI strutted it stuff alongside some of the biggest designers this week, including BCBG Max Azria, Herve Leger, Jason Wu and Rebecca Taylor.

Neutral hues from OPI continue to rule the runways, along with a pop of colour from some of the season’s hottest fashion showings.

The nude look continues for spring and summer as OPI kicked off the New York fashion shows by doing nails for BCBG Max Azria on Thursday, September 8. The trends at BCBG Max Azria included a lot of colour-blocking, tribal prints, and easy-going, loose styles in a detailed complex manner. The makeup was soft, fresh, dewy skin, nude eyes, with very rosy cheeks. OPI used a gorgeous nude shade, Samoan Sand, on the models nails and toes, which perfectly complemented the complex and bright patterns clothing. Celebrity attendees included Sophia Bush, Shantel VanSanten and Elisha Cuthbert.

At Rebecca Taylor rich neutral pastel shades were in the spotlight with the models wearing Stranger Tides, a gray-green pastel on their fingernails complemented with a creamy beige on the toes, Tickle My France-y.

Jason Wu’s off site showing had the models fingers blessed with OPI’s MonSooner or Later, a vibrant orange-y red, watermelon shade. The boldly colored nails, acted as an eye-catching accessory that complemented the beautiful clothes.

Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI cofounder and Artistic director has been working closely with Jason Wu, finding inspiration in the designer’s colour scheme and seasonal trends.

“Jason Wu is an amazingly talented designer, so being able to work with him is very exciting,” says Weiss-Fischmann. “Nail lacquers are a huge part of fashion. It’s a privilege for OPI to be working amongst world-renowned designers during Fashion Week. I’m thrilled to be collaborating with Jason to accessorize his spring 2012 collection with the hottest nail trends”.

Today, Thursday 14th September, OPI provided another soft palette on the nails at the Herve Leger – Max Azria show, selecting a soft pale nude with a hint of coral Coney Island Cotton Candy, keeping with a more natural look. This nude accessory complemented Herve Leger strong metallic body-hugging dresses combined with frilly hemlines and tribal influences. The models wore striking gladiator heels and gold accessories to complete the look.
