International Fashion Week 2012

International Fashion Week was recently held at the Novotel Twin Waters, from September 4th to 9th. The week was filled with informative workshops, education events, networking, fashion shows as well as trade only aspects for the fashion industry… The major parades were held on Saturday September the 8th.

Kylie’s Professional was once again proud to be chosen as makeup sponsor for this prestigious event.

Guiding the team of talented makeup artists backstage was insanely hectic as usual and so of course, a crazy amount of fun and a great day of makeup madness that only fanatics could love. "We had our Kylie’s girls working with KJ Artistry’s team, which gave us a fantastic Mineral Goddess, Makeup Super team," said Kylie Eustace, founder of Kylie's Professional.

"With a number of designers sharing the models, the looks we created suited all the designers’ styles. Our makeup team worked with ideas and looks that the designers, stylists and directors of International Fashion Week wanted to see. We had the pleasure of interpreting the looks using creative expression and transforming the models into Mineral Goddesses. This year we were asked to create wearable looks. We love that these looks can easily be recreated for a night out."

The Swim and Lifestyle show makeup was very soft, bronzed and shimmery. A reflection of the metallic colours that are fashionable for 2012/13 summer. A flattering look for a casual, swimwear and daytime outdoor show.

The team created smokey eyes for the Ethical Design show. This is a look that never dates and the designers love smokey eyes, with bright pink lips being a fun fashion statement.

The look was glammed up for the Couture Show with the and sexy smokey look and a cherry bomb glossy red lip. The team said they loved creating the glam look.

At the end of the evening a late call went out from international designer Ali Charisma for the team to create a dramatic makeup change. Ali’s request found just two makeup artists remaining on ‘touch-up duty’ backstage, Kylie and her daughter Skye Fagan.

"Having only seven minutes to drastically change the girls, we did a dramatic dark and smudged teardrop style makeup. Ali asked for something dark, messy and dramatic similar to crying brides. We did 8 of the 16 models with this style and left the models in white gowns to look Angelic," said Kylie.

"Ali’s stunning collection and the makeup style was definitely a highlight for the audience and us. Sometimes it’s the spontaneous decisions that end up being the best. Ali Charisma’s models were dramatic and so much fun to create!"

Ali’s Couture models eyes were created using Mineral Intensity a cream style shadow or liner in black. The makeup artists varied each model from super bold to slightly more blended. All Ali’s models' makeup was slightly varied.

This year, there was a VIP makeup lounge situated on a veranda overlooking Novotel’s magnificent grounds. Kylie said she loved the natural light and Australian outdoors feel of the VIP lounge. It proved very popular with the VIP’s and show guests eager to share in the Mineral Goddess experience.

The first parade was the Swim and Life Style Show held in a lovely garden setting down by the water. The models makeup was a soft-bronzed look.
The following products were used, Dream, Antique Gold and Bronzed eyeshadows, Onyx as a shadow liner, Coffee Bean for the brows, Mineral Intensity, Playful blusher and Gold eyeshadow to highlight temples. Bronzed and Coral lipstick were mixed for the lipstick and Fairy lip gloss was added on top to craete shine. The look was completed with masacara.

The second parade was The Ethical Design show also held in the garden. It focused on sustainable, environmental eco-recycled and up-cycled designs. The team created a soft smokey style eye for this show with a watermelon pink lip.  Dream eyeshadow was added to the inner corners of the eyes. Onyx eyeshadow and Black Mineral Intensity were used for lining and to craete depth. Bloom blusher was also used to finish the look.
