With its inspiring FITE (Financial Independence Through Entrepreneurship) program, Dermalogica is eager to support and empower women in their lives and careers. As part of this, the skincare brand paid for the Violet Room refurbishment and is also is also financially supporting two local women, Melanie Minaca and Seruwaia Chung, to become qualified beauty therapists.

Due to graduate in July, Melanie and Seruwaia will use the Violet Room to offer affordable treatments to the local community while they study. Both are single mums with the dream of achieving financial security for their families through a career in beauty.

“I want to be able to financially support my children now and in the future,” says Seruwaia. “Having a business means I can pay my bills on time and give my kids extra things I can’t now.”

During the intimate launch, where members of the Neighbourhood Connections community enjoyed a Dermalogica skincare 101 workshop and lunch provided by social enterprise Pepper’s Place, LNC manager Patricia Hall thanked Dermalogica for its continued help, with passionate Dermalogica team member Jane York given a special mention.

“By providing scholarships to complete a Diploma of Beauty to disadvantaged women, it not only means that it changes the quality of life for themselves and their family but the whole community will be able to access a service that women from this background would never be able to afford,” Patricia says.

“We are very appreciative of the support we have received from Dermalogica. Without them we would not be able to offer the amazing programs, funding and support to our community.”

Dermalogica will continue to mentor Melanie and Seruwaia, and as the first corporate sponsor of The Sydney Women’s Fund the skincare brand looks forward to ensuring as many women as possible are provided help in their journey to fulfilling careers.
