The Spa at Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort basked in the limelight at the 2011 ASPA Spas of Excellence Awards on October 14.
Spa manager Julie Narouz was awarded Best Spa Manager 2011 and The Spa was one of five finalists for Best Destination Spa – Resort.
Awards convenor ASPA (Australasian Spa Association Limited) is the peak spa industry body for Australia and the Pacific. The Spa was judged against its counterparts across the entire Australia and the Pacific region.
More than 80 spa industry representatives from Australia, New Zealand and Fiji attended the gala awards dinner in Noosa.
Nominees were subjected to a rigorous judging process which included an online application and finalists were visited by a secret shopper. Ms Narouz said she was delighted to be recognised by her industry peers: “I have won awards overseas for spa management but this is the first time I have won an Australia-Pacific award and I’m very proud of it,” she said.
Ms Narouz believes her award reflects positively on the Spa: “We’ve always known The Spa is a special place, the ambience is 5-star and this award is recognition of what we provide.
“A spa manager has to be the facilitator for a great spa experience, to create an atmosphere that is safe and therapeutic. I put a lot of effort into staff training and quality assurance. We give our clients a heaven on earth experience.”
Under Ms Narouz’s direction The Spa has tailored a number of spa packages that are hugely popular such as the Half Day Spa Escape – clients enjoy a HydroMassage and Steam Experience, including blitz shower and infrared sauna, followed by their choice of a tropical enzyme facial, sugar scrub or full body massage.
The Spa’s inground flotation pool is quite possibly unique in Australia. Clients can feel the total relaxation of weightlessness within minutes of floating in highly mineralised water and enter a meditation state by gazing at the starlit ceiling.
Ms Narouz said she was proud that The Spa was a finalist in its awards category. “Our clients constantly give us excellent feedback and our repeat custom is testament that The Spa is a very special place to visit.”
