LYCON Cosmetics launches hand sanitiser

In March 2020 the Beauty Salon Industry, not only in Australia, but in most other countries around the world was forced to close their doors and refrain from performing any beauty related treatments indefinitely, due to the devastating circumstances surrounding the novel coronavirus, subsequently named COVID-19.

During these uncertain times it has been extremely important and imperative for salons as well as other businesses to adapt and change their operations in the hope their business will survive and be here on the other side of this unexpected and most unfortunate pandemic.  There was no other choice, but to adapt and an important decision Lydia Jordane CEO & Founder of LYCON Cosmetics had to make was to go ahead and produce a Hand Sanitisers, when the TGA relaxed their regulations in relation to who can produce Hand Sanitisers in Australia and how it can be done.  LYCON Cosmetics signed up with the Queensland Government to offer its support in producing the much needed hand sanitiser in a spray bottle, in accordance with the WHO approved formula, which could be manufactured at LYCON’s world class GMP facility. The next step was to ensure LYCON had enough alcohol supply, which is the main ingredient in an effective hand sanitiser, which was in short supply considering the demand sky rocketed overnight.   In addition it was also difficult to obtain suitable bottles, also in short supply.  Thankfully LYCON had a good supply of suitable bottles, which meant they could gear up to produce quickly, making sure the bottle, sprayer and sanitiser formula are compatible.

LYCON Hand Sanitiser Spray has been well received not only within the beauty industry but also with other local essential businesses that have been fortunate enough to stay open during this time. LYCON decided to produce a spray as opposed to a gel, considering a spray is more versatile and can be used not only on the hands but also on most other surfaces quickly and easily, such as mobile phones, general phones, computer keyboards and screens, car steering wheels, EFTPOS machines, petrol pumps, desks and other general surfaces when shopping or sitting anywhere, even the soles of shoes after being out!  LYCON Hand Sanitiser Spray can be sprayed directly onto surfaces, or it can be sprayed onto a tissue or a paper towel to wipe over things.  It is an attractive compact bottle, which clients can purchase when visiting a salon.   The spray can be sold as a retail option to clients and staff can use it in the salon to clean all surfaces and equipment any time.   Anyone can carry one in a pocket or handbag for optimum hygiene precautions anytime, anywhere.

With the successful launch of the LYCON Hand Sanitiser Spray, Lydia was delighted to reach out and give back to the community and support the unprecedented demand for products within the Australian health industry, by donating 1000 bottles to the well-deserving and incredible Mater Foundation at the Brisbane Mater Hospital. The Foundation is providing the LYCON Sanitisers in packs they offer to student nurses and returning nurses who are being retrained to come back into the frontline hospital workforce against COVID-19.

On the 5th of May, two very special and excited guests from the Mater Foundation visited LYCON headquarters to accept the donation.  While practising social distancing Lydia provided an in-depth look into LYCON’s laboratories, manufacturing plant and office day-to-day operations, the company history, while the Mater Foundation ladies explained what the Mater Foundation does for the community.

As always LYCON comes up to the challenge and is adapting and planning new ways to evolve around the current challenging circumstances, with their constant commitment to provide the best quality globally accepted products to beauty salons and the community at large, to assist in the best way possible.
