Clinic Owner Vouches for the Nordlys Device in Treating Her Patients’ Skin

Registered Nurse and clinic owner, Jodie Fisher explains why the Nordlys is her preferred energy-based device.

Have you considered investing in Nordlys?

It’s the new narrowband light therapy device designed to treat a variety of skin conditions.

Nordlys uses advanced technology that allows it to deliver light therapy more efficiently and effectively than other devices on the market.

Nordlys is faster, more precise, and less painful than other light therapy devices, which makes it an attractive option for patients looking for a less invasive treatment option.

Additionally, Nordlys is easy to use and requires minimal training, which makes it a convenient option for practitioners looking to expand their treatment offerings.

Nurse Jodie opens the doors to her Queensland clinic, and shares why Nordlys was the right choice for her business:

Nurse Jodie Clinic was established five years ago now. Briefly share your experience as a cosmetic nurse and your decision to open this clinic.

“I started cosmetic nursing in 2012 learning my skills in a busy doctor-lead skin and cosmetic injectable clinic. After working with them for two years I had a break for two years and went back to full-time nursing in the hospital until I became burnt out and decided to start cosmetic injecting again. I changed my hours at the hospital to casual and started to build my clientele, injecting two days a week by renting rooms at beauty clinics. After 12 months it became apparent to me that clients were willing to come to where I was. It was also hard to holistically look after the needs of my clients when only renting a space. I wanted to be able to recommend skin treatments as well and look after the patient and their skin needs.”

Describe the look and feel of your clinic.

“We wanted to have a beautiful clinic where patients felt comfortable to come and have treatments no matter what was happening in their day, and to feel relaxed, accepted and cared for when they came.

After three years of building our client base and services, we were able to expand our clinic. I engaged interior designer Katrina De Vere to design and style the clinic for us. We wanted to create a place that had a beautiful soft ambience, and was tranquil and relaxing. We spend a lot of time at work, so we also wanted it to be a place we would enjoy and love being at.”

You chose the Candela Nordlys laser device for your clinic. Why did you choose this device, and what are some of the hero treatments you conduct using the device?

“We opened our clinic on a minimal budget, stocking skincare, purchasing a skin needling device and offering cosmetic injectable and beauty services. For the first 12 months, it was very apparent to me that we needed to add to our services an IPL device to treat pigmentation. It was the most frequently asked question: how to treat pigmentation. I was having to refer our clients to clinics in the area that I knew were able to do this treatment for them.

It was quite daunting choosing our first device to purchase. It’s a big investment. You worry about whether you will be able to pay off the machine and will it bring in revenue. There were so many to choose from and they range from $50k to $250k. It’s hard to compare apples for apples and I definitely wanted the machine to deliver on what it said it could do. We wanted to see results for our clients.

We chose Candela Nordlys because it came with a three-year warranty on the device, as well as three years of education, support and assistance. We looked around at doctor-led clinics and found it to be a trusted device. It wasn’t the cheapest and wasn’t the most expensive. We were also given the opportunity to have a treatment, experience how it feels and how the skin responds. I was initially dubious because it felt so comfortable. Advancement in technology, short pulses and built-in cooling made the treatment very tolerable.

Candela Nordlys has been a brilliant device. Initially I didn’t want to do laser but we could always add this modality or hand piece later as we grew in confidence. Our main focus was evening our patients’ skin tone from both pigmentation and redness. The Nordlys had pre-set parameters which makes it a safe device and easy to use.”

Describe the training you and your staff have received from Candela so far?

“Candela is very thorough in delivering and setting up the device for you. They come and spend a couple of days training the staff, making sure they are confident and comfortable in using the device. Staff are encouraged to experience the treatments for themselves as well.”

Who are ideal candidates for the Nordlys device?

“Ideal clients for the Nordlys are Fitzpatrick skin types 1-4. The device is able to treat brown pigmentation, vascular lesions, broken capillaries, rosacea, telangiectasia, cherry angiomas, acne scars, warts, actinic keratosis, Striae, acne, leg vessels, hair removal, and skin resurfacing with the Frax1940. 90 percent of clients that walk through the door will have something we are able to recommend a treatment for using the Nordlys.”

What are some of the advantages of using Nordlys over similar devices in the market?

“The advantage of using the Nordlys is its multi-modality functionality; you only need one device which also doesn’t take up too much room. You can also purchase the device and different hand pieces as your clinic grows and cash flow is more available. This is great for start-up businesses and growing clinics.”
