What’s in Her Beauty Bag? PB Editor Anita Quade

Anita Quade joins the beauty mile high club and dishes on her favourite holiday must-haves ahead of the summer break.

Anita Quade, Editor Professional Beauty

One of my favourite places in the world is the airport. Who doesn’t love jumping on a plane for a travel adventure? Recently I was invited as Editor of Professional Beauty to attend the incredible Cosmoprof in Singapore – and it got me thinking about the things that were actually in my on-flight beauty bag. These are the skin saviours I found:

Anita Quade shares some of her favourite holiday must-haves for 2022.

I love using up any samples that have been gifted with purchase throughout the year or given to me to use after a salon visit. It’s the perfect way to try some great new skincare innovations plus they are great space savers. Planes equal dehydration so these Hydra Express Eye Patches from Ultraderm and the Fusion Meso Eye Sorbet are great for the peepers.

For a skin spritz I love Synergie Skin’s Enviroshield – the anti-pollution and infrared defence spray is packed with marine botanical extracts and is great for freshening up mid-flight.

As a self-confessed lipstick addict I love the feeling of hydrating lip oils and balms – my favourites include Babor’s Super Soft Lip Oil in Pearl Pink, or for a touch of colour Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm in Poppy.

THE BIG CLEANSE

When it comes to cleansing – I have quite a few on rotation, but here are a few heroes. Thalgo has managed to bottle the scent of a holiday in their incredible Nourishing Shower Oil – it smells like summer! To get rid of any excess makeup Ultraceuticals Ultra Dual Action Microfoliant does the trick, and for the ultimate luxury mesoestetic’s hydracream fusion is a cream to oil cleanser, postbiotic and anti-pollution for the most sensitive skin.

HOLIDAY SKIN

Getaways should be about low-key maintenance – so I pair down my skincare routine to include just the bare essentials. I love the all-in-one Ultraceuticals Ultra UV Protective Daily Moisturiser SPF 50 Hydrating – this range is used in so many salons and for good reason. To provide a splash of colour and extra glow post-beach swim I apply the Aspect Sun 50+ CC Cream – it has a hint of pigment and am never without it in my tote (I’m up to my fourth tube of this hero!)

THE PIGMENTATION SAVIOUR

Anita loves mesoestetic’s mesoprotech melan 130 pigment control 50+.

With the summer sun comes the dreaded pigmentation and one of the best tailored products I love is mesoestetic’s mesoprotech melan 130 pigment control 50+. This tinted emulsion is perfect on its own and gives skin an incredible sheen to provide the perfect makeup base without the ‘piling’ effect.

BARELY THERE MAKEUP

Anita loves Douglas Pereira’s Skin Fluid Tint SPF 30+

For me holidays are about paired back beauty – and keeping with this ethos one of my favourite glowy looks is thanks to the collection by skincare creator Douglas Pereira – who was also on our BSI skincare formulators panel this year. My go-to foundation is the Skin Fluid Tint SPF 30+ –  it is lightweight and light diffusing, unlike many tinted formulations this has an amazing consistency that provides the perfect coverage. It’s that good I stocked up on another bottle pre-Christmas! Luckily Douglas also has launched his mineral makeup formulations – the skin fluid cheeks in the most perfect rose petal hue leaves an incredible flushed glow. Also included is a liquid bronzer and illuminator. These sheer beauties will have people wondering whether you are wearing any makeup at all.

PARTY PREP

A selection of Anita’s favourite makeup products

Of course there is always sundown and the promise of balmy nights and cocktails. To amp up a look, a few of my favourite travellers include: the Chanel CC Cream Correction Complete SPF30, a touch-up compact – namely wiQo’s ICP Cream in a light colour – ideal to slip into your purse and offers great coverage, and a slick of drama with Benefit’s They’re Real Xtreme Precision Liquid Liner for the perfect eye. I add a flush of Stila’s creamy peony blush that I have used for a decade and buy on repeat, McoBeauty’s XtendLash, a slick of Luma’s Just a Touch Lip and Cheek Tint in Signorita, and Trinny London’s stackable lip colour in Cordy.

Voila! Summer ready and for now, it’s Bon Voyage.
Have an incredible holiday beauties – see you in the new year! x AQ
