Seminar reveals factors driving growth of Chinese spa industry

Organisers of the recent 30th Guangzhou International Beauty & Cosmetic Import-Export Expo have said that the emergence of the Chinese nouveau riche and their pursuit of wellness and a balanced lifestyle has been the driving force behind the growth of the spa business in China.


This fact was revealed at the three-day “All about SPA” seminar held during the expo in March. The seminar brought together spa experts, trainers, operators and spa product brands, creating a gathering and forum for top professionals in the Chinese spa industry.

Global Spa & Wellness Trend, presented by well-known spa industry expert Dr. Theresa Chew, President of Spa and Wellness Association Singapore, offered guidelines and advice to people aspiring to enter the industry. Winning with Retailing was presented by Samantha Foster, Managing Director of Spa Source Asia Ltd, who shared her experience in developing retail concepts, market analysis, inventory planning, product selection, performance evaluation, sales training and the style of the spa.

Spa will be a focus in the next edition of the Guangzhou International Beauty & Cosmetic Import-Export Expo – Autumn 2009 to take place from 24 to 26 September 2009 at the China Import And Export Fair PAZHOU COMPLEX Area B – Guangzhou, China.

The event organisers are planning a special program to intensify the learning experience and introduce more spa products and brands on the show floor to keep up with the rapid development of the spa sector in China.
