Red Lips on World Multiple Sclerosis Day

MS Australia has launched a new national fundraising campaign to raise awareness and funds for research and services for those living with multiple sclerosis. The campaign is called Kiss Goodbye to MS.

It's a sexy, positive and strong way to show support for World MS Day, 30th May 2012

Kiss Goodbye to MS will take place throughout the month of May 2012 and ends on 30th May 2012, World MS Day. Everyone is encouraged to wear red lipstick of different shades and to share the idea at work and on social media. MS Australia hopes this will get the nation talking about the disabling neurological disease, multiple sclerosis. Through this, MS Australia also hopes donations will be made to help find a cure.

According to MS Australia, multiple sclerosis affects over 21,000 Australians and 3.5 million people worldwide. With three out of four people being female and diagnosed on average at the age of 30; it is the most common chronic neurological condition affecting young Australian adults. MS Australia has found that incidence is increasing especially the disease afflicting young women in their prime.

Multiple sclerosis is an incurable, chronic and often disabling disease that randomly attacks and scars the protective insulation that surrounds the nerve fibres in the brain and spinal cord. The progress, severity and symptoms are different for everyone; ranging from tingling to numbness to paralysis and blindness. The physical and emotional effects are devastating for both the sufferer and their families.

MS Australia strives for a world without multiple sclerosis through quality research and for service excellence to people with multiple sclerosis. Through the initiative of Kiss Goodbye to MS, the organisation hopes everyone will put on red lipstick and get the conversation started. Men can wear a lipstick-on-your-collar sticker to show support. All donations will go to research and services to assist those with multiple sclerosis.
