Post-show wrap from the 2011 Bali International Spa & Wellness Expo

Held for the first time between March 9 – 11, 2011, the Bali International Spa & Wellness Expo drew large crowds from all across the globe.

A total of more than 85 exhibitors showcased their latest advancements covering all types of spa, beauty and wellness products, including everything from soap and anti-ageing products to nail polish and spa equipment.

15 exhibitors representing eight countries and regions were present at the Bali Spa & Wellness Expo alone. 32 per cent of the exhibitors came from outside of Indonesia, with representation from France, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, Spain and New Zealand.

During the expo, the top-selling products included Jacuzzi accessories, herbal and soap products, as well as beauty cosmetics.

The Bali International Spa & Wellness Expo brought approximately a 50 per cent increase in visitors to all fairs in Bali. The consecutive increase in visitors is testimony to its success.

Intensive discussions on the trade fair floor, networking and educational sessions in the seminar rooms created a bustling business atmosphere over the two exciting days.

“The health market is facing some new challenges in attracting tourists to Indonesia. The spa and wellness sector needs to be in conjunction with the tourism sector to create a stronghold concept,” says Dr Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih, Indonesian Minister of Health.

The organiser of the Bali International Spa & Wellness Expo, Mr. Felix Rusli is also confident of the expo’s success.

“Bali International Spa & Wellness Expo was held for the first time this year, and as a niche trade fair for the spa, beauty and wellness industry, it has reaped success for both exhibitors and visitors. With a target increase of 20 per cent in exhibitors in its second year, we are set for success,” says Rusli.

A total of four group pavilions from Europe, France, Spain, Italy, and Germany showcased the best of their national products and were very well received by the visitors. Below is some feedback from the happy exhibitors.

“We exhibited within the Italian beauty pavilion and found it to be a really good platform for showcasing our products. There are seven companies here but you will be surprised to find that there are altogether more than 10 brands of beauty and spa showcased at the show. We are happy with the feedback gathered and are definitely considering coming back next year, maybe with a bigger space,” said Andrea Pastori from Bio Company.

Meritxell Salvador Llado from Spain is a first-time exhibitor at the expo and introduced a range of beautiful Germaine de Cappucini products to the Indonesian and Asian market.

“We feel that it’s very important for us to also target the beauty therapists, spa companies, and spa operators in Indonesia, and we can do this at the expo,” says Llado.

What’s more, a series of educational seminars on the fine points of wine appreciation as well as food and beverage pairing were held for the first time at the trade fair.

The seminars were also well-attended as visitors and exhibitors used these additional opportunities to network with the industry professionals. Majority of the visitors surveyed were satisfied or very satisfied with their visit and almost all of them are likely to participate again next year.

The Bali International Spa & Wellness Expo will be held again in September 2012 co-locating with the Spa & Wellness Summit.
