Hair salon superstars gathered in Melbourne for the Ozdare North Meets South event which celebrated the abundance of creativity the city has to offer on 17th September 2012.
The sold-out affair brought together some of the city’s best salons from north and south of the Yarra River: Chumba, Joey Scandizzo, Masci Hair and Spa and Xiang Hair.
Each salon was given 20 minutes to share what’s ‘on trend’ on their side of town, giving guests a live demonstration of the latest hair styling, cutting and colouring.
The result was colour aplenty and strong ‘bold’ trends with short, square haircuts for men and severe shapes for ladies, moving away from curls and movement, which have been popular in recent years. Although pops of colour dominated, pastels are very much still on trend with blush and powder blue tones making their mark.
As a treat for guests, the salons also put together ‘behind-the-scenes’ footage of them working on their collections and ACMI helped bring the show to life with its state-of-the-art video facilities. In keeping with the venue, the 170 guests nibbled popcorn while they enjoyed the cinematic experience.
