More exciting news from the Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo

The Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo gears up for an incredible line up in 2011, including the highest calibre of talent, the best of the beauty business, and highly anticipated beauty competitions.

The main stage will feature live demonstrations from leaders of the international makeup scene. Here, learn the tricks of the trade from beauty masters in creative education sessions.

The amazing and super-talented Nicola Burford will be taking to the stage to share the latest trends in makeup and application techniques hot off the international and Australian catwalks. Having worked with brands, including Oscar De La Renta, Alexander McQueen, Chloe, Balenciaga, Burberry and Vivienne Westwood, this demonstration is a must-see opportunity for all wishing to expand their application skill, update their knowledge and increase their professionalism in their salon makeup services.

2011 Makeup Artist of the Year Rachel Montgomery will be presenting her expert know-how on using colour in makeup live on stage, drawing on her broad range of experience and knowledge in makeup. Rachel's clientele includes Florence & the Machine, Cyndi Lauper, Collette Dinnigan, Akira Isagawa, Alex Perry and her work has featured in leading publications, including Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, Cleo and Oyster.

What’s more, The Makeup Awards will take place live on the main stage each day. Australia’s talented makeup artists will perform under pressure to create awe-inspiring looks.

The Legends of Pop Rock
From Lady Gaga, Ke$ha and Katy Perry to David Bowie and Siouxsie and the Banshees, they not only rule the charts but also know how to make a big style statement. Take a leaf from the stars who blow audiences away with their show-stopping looks.

Runway Inspired
Taking inspiration from the latest international runway shows, show us your take on the hottest looks. From Gucci's 70's inspired colour, Louis Vuitton's exotic metallics to Alberta Ferretti's modern pastels, let your creativity shine in high fashion style.
Saturday, August 13 from 4.30pm – 6.00pm.

Brides Through the Ages
Take your cue from iconic brides, from the classic style of Grace Kelly, the modern elegance of Audrey Hepburn to the bohemian beauty of Bianca Jagger, get inspired by the looks from 20th and 21st century.
Sunday, August 14 from 10.30am – 12.00pm.

Recognising and rewarding the highest standard of talent in nail artistry, the nail competition has been running for more than ten years at the expo. 2011 sees the competition take an exciting new direction with fashion-inspired categories being introduced, including runway and photographic categories new to the competition.

Coordinated by award-winning nail artist Sara Wong, the nail awards will run across both the Saturday and Sunday. See website for specific times.

What’s more, the creative education workshops have a steller line-up this year. Some of the workshops on offer include: the ‘Queen of Eyebrows’ Svetlana Burkhardt’s Eyebrow Shaping workshop; Elly Lukas Beauty Therapy College’s Eyelash Extentions class; makeup maestro Rae Morris’ makeup application workshop; Becca Gilmartin’s body art workshop; and Mandi Levanah’s photo-finish fingernails class.
