Lycon offices hit by Queensland floods

The devastation of the Queensland floods haven't just affected residential homes, they have also affected businesses; one of them being the team at Lycon.

Mud and ruin all over. Swollen gyprock walls. Mud-soaked carpets. A damaged showroom. Soaked furniture. These were just some of the sights Lycon staff had to face when it was safe to return back to their workplace.

Fortunately for the team, the flood waters didn’t get too high so there was only superficial damage to their production machinery. Miraculously, their ready stock on-hand and raw materials were unaffected.

They started the clean up process on Friday, January 14 with an amazing amount of help from staff, family, friends and volunteers. So many helping hands, muscles, shovels, gurneys, generators, brooms, mops, squeegees and sponges were in action all over.

“Even though the task was daunting, everyone was filled with an amazing amount of energy. At times during the cleanup, we would pause, and shake our heads in disbelief, but the smiles and good humour won over, with mud smears on us from head to toe, “ said Lydia Jordane, founder of Lydia Jordane skincare and Lycon.

It took until Wednesday, January 19 to have electricity, network access and one of their manufacturing areas up and running again.

“We feel very fortunate that there was no greater damage and feel deep sympathy for the ones who lost everything, including family and friends,” Jordane continued.

Lycon operations have now resumed as normal. The phone number and website remains the same, although please send fax orders to (07) 3846 2311.
