Owner and skincare specialist, Dee Davies of Clear Skin Clinic in Double Bay, Sydney, isn’t afraid of what customers might say about her business; in fact she embraces online feedback on, and says, “Our business can’t live without our word-of-mouth online reviews.”

Clear Skin Clinic focuses on treating people with mild to severe acne and it is no surprise that others in need of her services want to read about clients’ experiences before committing.

“It’s a very personal issue and lots of people are scared of beauty salons. They don’t want to be sold another product or scammed into something that doesn’t work. The reviews are very credible because they’re an honest account from people that have had the same problem.”

The Clear Skin Clinic started in 2002, but has seen its most remarkable growth in the last two years. They have gone from two staff to six and expanded into the building next door to create four extra rooms.

Dee believes it is down to the reviews alone that new clients have found her: “I honestly believe the reviews influence almost every new customer we get. The reviews bring us up in Google searches, and when people click and see what others have said about us, they know they’ve found the right clinic.

“Most treatments only take 3-5 weeks so we need a constant stream of new clients. But with the reviews, we get around 15 new clients a week. We don’t do any other advertising but we’re regularly booked out eight weeks in advance.”

The reviews are important to Dee who says reputation is the salon’s most valued asset, proving the hard work her team put in is driving the businesses success.
