Beautyworld Japan welcomed 43,218 visitors

Beautyworld Japan is Japan’s largest beauty trade fair and was held over two days from the 16 – 18 May, 2011. With 362 exhibitors from 11 countries/regions, it welcomed over 43,218 visitors despite Japan's recent earthquake.

It goes without saying that the mainstage seminars were the stand-out features at the fair. Although, the exhibitor’s seminars also drew large crowds and the newly-launched business seminars saw a number of interested visitors.

A free nail polish event, one of the charity events from Charity Nail “Gambare Nippon! (Go Japan!) Stand Up Nailists”, saw a long line of people waiting for their nails to be manicured. The charity nail event on the mainstage was broadcasted on the web enabling many others outside the fair to watch.

There were numbers of exhibitors who gave great feedback about the fair. Many commented that there were more active business talks. Most business people who visited to that fair shared a similar goal –  to keep the beauty industry energised and enthusiastic, especially in times of hardship.

“In order to build recognition of our brands, I believe in the importance of continuous exhibiting. When I heard the fair was taking place despite the earthquake we decided to participate to bring spirit to the industry through this event. Because we’re in a time like this, there are good reasons to boost energy” said Mr. Hisayuki Toyoda from Policy Cosemtics /Nihon Beauty Corp.

With a successful debut at the Natural and Organic Zone; a zone that was launched last year, Ms. Delia Louw and Ms. Liezel Van Beek from African Extracts Rooibos Skin Care Products Ltd commented,

“We joined Beautyworld Japan to promote our skin and body care products made of Rooibos. We chose this country as we thought there are many potential customers who are very loyal to a product once they like it and the fair is known for attracting many visitors every year. We wished to contribute, especially after the earthquake. The responses were superb and we’d like to come back next year,”

Mr. Yoshifumi Hachimine from Guinot Japan Corp  who exhibited at the Cosmetic zone also left a positive comment on the company’s debut at the fair.

“Guinot has the top share in France and we decided to exhibit at this fair to promote our brand in Japan. We chose Beautyworld Japan as it is the fair that our target visitors, such as people from esthetic salons visit most. We got many great responses so we’re very happy.”

The Mainstage event that gathered more than 700 people, a number that is far more than the maximum capacity, was “Hormone Massage for Glowing Skin – 54 Great Techniques that Work on Skin Problems Caused by Hormone Imbalance."

The guest speaker and demonstrator was Ms. Hidemi Morimasa, the head of Esthetic Morimasa, a tutor at the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the directer of Tourbillion Co.

“There were many audiences who repeatedly come from all parts of Japan. These people who make the effort to visit in a time like this are serious about learning new skills. The attraction of a trade fair is that one can see new products and skills at once and compare them. I’m looking forward to coming back next year," said Morimasa.

Beautyworld Japan will be back next year from 14 – 16 May, 2012. Beautyworld Japan West, the sister fair, will be held on 24-26 October 2011 in Osaka.
