Beauty brands honour Breast Cancer Month

To honour international Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, a number of beauty brands are among those donating proceeds from sales of some of their products to the cause.

For the fourth year in a row, OPI teams up with the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) during October. One hundred per cent of the profits from sales of its DBP, toleune and formaldehyde-free Pink of Hearts 2009 Edition nail lacquer will be donated to breast cancer research. OPI aims to raise in excess of $25,000.

ModelCo will donate $1 from sales of every 220g Airbrush Tan in a Can towards the NCBF in October. ModelCo will also donate $1 from sales of its Turbo Lashwand eyelash curler to the NBCF.

Aveda will donate $4 from the sale of each Breast Cancer Awareness Hand Relief hand cream to the US-based Breast Cancer Research Foundation to help advance the understanding of environmental links to breast cancer. The limited edition product is specially packaged in a 150ml tube with a pink ribbon design and a reminder to consumers of their annual breast exam. This year, Aveda’s fundraising goal is $300,000.

Jane Iredale mineral cosmetics distributor, Margi Fox, will donate $1 from the sale of every limited edition ‘Christina’ PureMoist Lip Colour to the NBCF to support research into breast cancer. The lip colour is named after US actress and breast cancer survivor, Christina Applegate.

Bio Sculpture Gel is supporting the NBCF for the second year, donating 10 cents from each product sold from its Perfectly Pink range. The colour range includes nail varnishes, and matching gels that are one hundred percent free from phthalates, formaldehyde and toluene.
