Government launches energy plan

“Keeping the lights on” has come to have a whole new meaning in 2020, given the extended lockdowns our salons have endured, and the rampage COVID-19 has wreaked on our businesses.

And now, while we survey the damage of the year that was, and take stock of just how we’re going to come out ahead in 2021, the federal government has launched Energy Made Easy, a site developed to help business owners in NSW, Queensland, South Australia and the ACT select the best energy deal and, well, keep the lights on.

The Energy Made Easy website is a free service to help small businesses in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory find and compare electricity and gas plans from all retailers in their areas.

Energy Made Easy can help you:

  • find the right energy plan
  • understand your plans, bills and rights
  • help to reduce your energy bills

Energy Made Easy has recently launched new features and improvements to make it easier for you to make informed energy choices.

The new features include:

  • searching by using your meter data or by uploading a PDF bill, and you’re still able to search by manually entering usage data from your paper bills
  • retailer solar feed-in credits are now included in estimated plan costs
  • translation function to translate the entire website into 33 different languages
  • a helpful search experience, including suburb and postcode look-up.
