Step Inside the New-Look Shape Clinic, Founded by Dr Steven Liew

For those familiar with Shape Clinic in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, you’ll recognise the space to be somewhat of a hidden gem.

Shape Clinic offers cosmetic and plastic surgery treatments including surgical, non-surgical, skincare treatments, and body contouring.

The clinic, which was founded by esteemed Doctor Steven Liew in 2005, has long been tucked away on Darlinghurst’s Boundary Street. Until recently, the warehouse conversion housed Dr Liew and his team within the confines of a 200 square-meter floor plan.

To accommodate for Shape’s growing staff roster, the decision was made to take things to the next level – literally.

Spread across two levels, encompassing a large outdoor space and views of Sydney, Shape Clinic has taken up residence on the building’s top floor.

As part of the move, Shape Clinic has taken on a brand new look and feel. The goal was to create a place that reflected quiet, calming, understated luxury.

Dr Liew entrusted Paddington-based interior architect George Livissianis with the design. The sunlit space leans on a clean white and gray palette with soft blue-green undertones. Concrete floors diverge high glossy walls and linen curtains to showcase a modern mix of textiles.

Curved elements feature throughout the fit-out. On the design choice, Dr Liew said he wanted to create the curve and the space so they are both soft and inviting, guiding you from one space to another.

“The softness in the curve also reflects physical beauty – every part of the face as a complex space, gently guiding from a convex surface to a gentle concave curve. Nothing flat, nothing sharp; a soft, organic beauty.”

It was important to Dr Liew and his team that visitors feel safe; that the space reflects Dr Liew’s personality as astute, accomplished, futuristic. The owner calls on the ability of light to direct our Chi. The re-imagined Shape Clinic mimics the business’ motivation to remain ahead of the curve.

“From the educational perspective, we have created the ‘Shape creative space’ to educate and collaborate with other aesthetic practitioners locally and around the world,” said Dr Liew.

“The new Shape Clinic also has a dedicated educational space with a state-of-the-art AV system that allows us to broadcast what we do worldwide.”

“Shape Clinic has always been considered to be a center of excellence and this new space enhances that experience.”
