The 20th anniversary of Beauty Expo Australia took place over the weekend, opening its doors to an estimated 10,000+ attendees and over 300 exhibitors.
Beauty Expo is regarded as Australia’s largest trade show dedicated to the beauty industry. Professional Beauty was in attendance as a key event partner, distributing copies of the title’s July/August print issue to guests.
Through meetings with various exhibitors and guests, the Professional Beauty team observed resoundingly positive feedback. Comments were made around the event’s “great turnout”, “upmarket feel” and “strong exhibitors”. Many also suggested the Expo’s 2023 edition was “its best yet”.
The annual event was hosted at The ICC Sydney Exhibition Centre at Darling Harbour. Exhibitors showcased across 32 categories, including skincare, devices, tanning, cosmetics, lashes and brows, nails, waxing, ingestibles, education and training, packaging solutions, salon software, insurance, and more.
Alongside exhibing brands, Smitten Cosmetics hosted the Main Stage which featured a series of talks by industry leaders. Topics of discussion ranged from Thriving as a Solo Beauty Entrepreneur, to Skincare Ingredient Myth Busting.
Some of the weekend’s most well-regarded industry speakers included Matt Williams (PBS), Gay Wardle, Vanessa Gray Lyndon (Vanessa Megan Naturceuticals), Lisa Paone (derma aesthetics), Chiza Westcarr, and Fiona Dosen (Advanced Cosmeceuticals). 2023 BEAUTY & SPA Insiders speakers Fiona Tuck, Isabella Loneragan and Peta Friend also featured on-stage.
Over at the Competition Hub, professionals battled it out at the LASH-V Lash Pro Championship. The inaugural Face2Face Makeup Awards also ran to reward extraordinary makeup artists for their craft, creativity and passion. The Homegrown Beauty Spotlight sought to showcase a string of highly coveted and innovative Australian beauty brands.
The Aesthetic & Beauty Industry Council (ABIC) welcomed industry members to connect at their Networking Lounge, designed to provide a relaxing break for guests. Sparrow Insurance was also on hand at The Business Couch, providing one-on-one business consultations in areas including marketing, pricing and sales.
