Intro to Airbrush Workshop in Hobart

One of Australia’s leading online makeup stores, Makeup & Glow is taking its in-demand ‘Intro to Airbrush’ workshop on the road, hosting the popular class in Hobart, Tasmania on Monday 11th March, 2013.

Rachael Parnell

Makeup & Glow owner and director, Rachael Parnell, a long-time makeup artist herself, having worked extensively in film, theatre and photographic makeup, will lead the class in her capacity as official educator for Elementwo Airbrush products.

“The Elementwo Airbrush brand offers a variety of silicone and water-based foundations, blushes, contour/highlighters and pigments, to ensure makeup application is expressive and effortless,” says Rachael. “The products apply naturally and flawlessly to the skin — regardless of skin colour and skin type, and I am so excited to be educating some of Tassie’s talented makeup artists with the best airbrush products available.”

Aimed at working or studying makeup artists, Rachael is maintaining her tradition of ‘boutique training’, with classes deliberately kept small and intimate.

“This style of training allows me to clearly identify weaknesses and promote strengths throughout the workshop, giving me an indication of when it’s time to move on to the next step or whether we need to continue to perfect techniques,” says Rachael.

During the workshop, theory and practical aspects of Airbrushing are covered, with all participants walking away competent and qualified in the following areas:

  • Why do we airbrush
  • Getting to know your equipment
  • Hand-applied versus airbrushing
  • Cleaning your equipment
  • Differentiating between silicone, water and alcohol makeup bases
  • Skin preparation
  • Concealing
  • Safety and troubleshooting
  • Contouring & highlighting
  • Client advice
  • Blush
  • Applying products
  • Foundation
  • Tattoo coverage
  • Setting the Face

Students are required to bring their own stationery, a live model, an existing makeup kit, brushes and airbrushing equipment. Products will be supplied on the day of the workshop. Students must contact Makeup & Glow if they do not own their own airbrush equipment or have an available model.
