Dale Dorning launches makeup master classes

International “celebrity hair and makeup artist”, Dale Dorning, has partnered with Latonas Professional Makeup Supplies in Wavell Heights, Brisbane, to launch his series of Makeup Master Classes, commencing in Brisbane on Monday, May 4. The launch coincides with the launch of Dorning’s brand, Proof Cosmetics, at Latonas.

Over four days, Dorning, who hails from Melbourne, will host five classes with a ‘look and learn’ concept, during which he will share his expert tips and tricks for creating flawless “red carpet” looks, what to look for when working on photographic events, and capturing the ultimate beauty shot.

“There is a definite difference working with celebrities, and in particular the red carpet circuit, to working on clients in-salon; your work is really scrutinised as the camera sees everything,” Dorning said. “As a professional makeup artist you really have to pull out all the stops. You battle with the elements, camera flash and the harshness of daylight, and it’s up to you to ensure your client looks flawless.”

Dorning’s celebrity clients include Delta Goodrem (pictured here with Dorning), Sophie Monk, Natalie Bassingthwaite, Miranda Kerr and Teresa Palmer. His creative and technical skills have appeared in advertising campaigns and the pages of international and national glossy magazines.

“My key tips will also assist artists in creating flawless bridal looks as this is the one day women want to look and feel like they are on their own red carpet,” Dorning said. “I really want to share my professional experience and help Brisbane makeup artists to give their clients, bridal or otherwise, the star treatment!”

Queensland makeup artist Abigael Johnston has joined forces with the director of Network 10’s hair and makeup department Corrine Beasley in taking over management at Latonas and helping organise this, their first professional makeup event.

“We are extremely privileged to have Dale host our first master class event at Latonas with places almost all taken. It’s important to let our industry in Brisbane know that the best in our industry are accessible to Queensland makeup artists and not just those residing in Sydney and Melbourne,” Johnston said.

There are plans to take the master classes around Australia in the near future.

Dates for the Brisbane courses are:
Monday 4th May 6:00pm – 8:30pm
Tuesday 5th May 6:00pm – 8:30pm
Wednesday 6th May 6:00pm – 8:30pm
Sunday 10th May 10:00am – 1:00pm, 2:00pm – 5:00pm
