1. Grow you brows out to be sure to get the most of a brow expert makeover.

2. Invest in having your brows done at least once by an expert – you’ll be amazed at the result and will then be armed (and motivated) to keep your tweezers at the ready to maintain your new look.

3. Tweeze every three days. Look for short stumpy regrowth, this way you’ll know it’s hair your professional removed and not growth that is crucial to your shape.  If you leave it too long you won’t be able to differentiate between new growth and old and will lose the line quickly.

4. Always tweeze two to three hairs up close then step away to look at your handy work.  Don’t get tweezer-happy only to discover you’ve created a gap or one much thinner than the other – this only results in further attempts to even them out followed by tears and/or resorting to bangs.  No fun.

5. If you tend to be sensitive to tweezing use ice or pick up an over-the-counter topical anesthetic like Emla or teething gel, which works just as well, is readily available and inexpensive.

6. Know that you don’t have to toss tweezers when they lose effectiveness – just grab an emery board (really rough cardboard nail file) and hold between the tweezer tips, clamp down move the file back and forth repeatedly.  Whala!  Good as new.

7. Remember: A well groomed brow seals a polished look – even with just moisturiser and a pony tail if you’ve defined brows you’ll never look unkempt.  Fill them if needed for added definition.  Use a waterproof gel.  Pencils look like pencil and powder has no staying power.
