Dr Serene Sunvisor Safety and Fashion Essential

Dr Serene Lim is a Perth based GP and leading complementary and cosmetic specialist. She has a strong focus on natural solutions for wellbeing and anti-ageing, and is the exclusive distributor of the award-winning German-made anti-ageing concept SQOOM.

Dr Serene has recently introduced Dr Serene Sunvisor to the Australian market. It is a total-face visor giving wearable coverage with premium protection against harmful UVA and UVB rays. Dr Serene says ARPANSA (the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency) has tested the sunvisor and given it a UPF rating of more than 50+, with more than 99% UV protection covering both UVA and UVB. That makes it the highest sun protection on the market for face and eyes.

“I am passionate about finding solutions for sun protection and anti-ageing,” she says. “The sunvisor combats both. Most people aren’t aware that while most sunscreens protect against skin burning caused by UVB rays, some sunscreens (unless rated SPF50 or broad spectrum) don’t contain any protection from UVA rays, which cause skin ageing. UVA can travel deeper into the skin than UVB and cause damage over time without immediate visible signs of sun damage. It’s linked to fatal melanomas and skin cancers. Most people have a false sense of security when they wear sunscreen, meanwhile the UVA is freely damaging the skin and causing premature ageing.”

Dr Serene researched the sunvisor concept and worked with a manufacturer to develop a visor with the correct shape for maximum coverage and aerodynamic design for jogging, cycling, golfing and tennis. “You can pull down the visor for full-face protection, and use its easy tilt-up action for a desirable visor angle,” she says. “It is comfortable, has good air-flow and does not fog up, plus has better sun protection than sunglasses as it wraps around your eyes and eliminates the need to wear greasy, heavy sunscreen on your face.”

The Dr Serene Sunvisor is already popular with beauty industry professionals, fashionistas and celebrities. It has been seen on the David Jones runway, on the Morning Show on Channel 7 and top designers have recently been using sun visors as a fashion statement, including Alexander McQueen and Parisian icon Carine Rotfield, a global leader, who has one on her website's homepage.
