She Put Food On Her Face. This Is What Happened…

In a brazen move to demonstrate just how much what we put on our face affects our health, Natural Beauty Week ambassador Amanda Rootsey agreed to do something highly unusual. Here’s what happened…

While Natural Beauty Week geared up for its launch next week, event ambassador, Amanda Rootsey, agreed to do something highly unusual to remind Australians that what goes on the skin, also goes into it.

In a three minute video, Rootsey volunteers as guinea pig to have nothing but food used to makeup her face for an evening out. It’s not something most models would agree to, and the concoction of weird green powders and slimy stuff on the makeup counter in this film is enough to put anyone off.

Until you see what happens to Rootsey’s face.

Despite using nothing but stuff most of us would find in our fridges, Rootsey’s makeup artist proves there’s little that can’t be achieved with natural products, and also brings home a very disconcerting message: that we’re drenching ourselves with thousands of chemicals on a regular basis and putting our bodies at risk, when we needn’t be.

“Organic no longer applies only to your shopping trolley – today’s eco-warriors are taking notice of the chemicals contained in their beauty products and are asking some serious questions,” says aesthetics education director of the College of Natural Beauty, Heddy Macaulay

“When you consider the skin is our largest organ and the products we use are quickly absorbed into the bloodstream, we owe it to ourselves to be our own watchdogs and to find natural products. The bright and beautiful pigments that can be found in nature are incredible – there is just no need to go messing with it!”

Presented by the College of Natural Beauty, the video is part of a change campaign aimed at promoting Natural Beauty Week and raising awareness of the health and environmental impacts of chemicals used in cosmetics and beauty products.
