Priceline and Sally Hansen recently set a new Guinness World Record for the most nails filed and varnished in eight hours. One hundred manicurists filed and polished an astounding 25,720 fingernails at lightning speed in Sydney’s Martin Place, to beat the previous record of 1,897 mini-manicures, set by the London College of Beauty Therapy in 2010.
In addition to breaking the record, Priceline and Sally Hansen raised more than $20,000 for cancer support charity Look Good…Feel Better, through its community initiative, The Priceline Sisterhood.
Additional funds (final figure to be confirmed) from the generous donations of Priceline customers at the event and in Priceline’s stores nationally will also go to Look Good…Feel Better.
Each mini-manicure took approximately 12 minutes and every person who received a manicure was invited to make a contribution towards Look Good…Feel Better through The Priceline Sisterhood. Sally Hansen generously donated $5 for each manicure completed and Priceline stores nationally participated in the fundraising by offering free mini-manicures in-store in exchange for a donation.
In order to qualify for the record, women received a file, a base coat, two coats of varnish and a top coat and men received a file and a buff to shine. Guinness World Records adjudicator, Chris Sheedy, says, “Setting a Guinness World Record is no easy feat so I’m happy to congratulate Priceline on this new record. It’s exciting to have another Aussie event included in the record books and this victory is even sweeter considering the amount of money raised for charity.”
All money raised during today’s event will go to Look Good…Feel Better’s cancer patient workshops, which help women with the appearance related side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy through the use of skincare, make-up, hats, turbans and wigs, to restore their appearance and self image during cancer treatment.
