The Academy of Makeup pays homage to The Academy Awards!

The Academy of Makeup has been busy educating their Certificate II students on the very best fashion and glamour makeup techniques, with close reference to Hollywood screen sirens, who dazzled with some amazing makeup looks at last month’s Academy Awards.

For almost 10 years, The Academy of Makeup has lead the way in makeup training, with Government accredited and nationally recognised courses. Their highly sought-after Certificate II qualification covers a variety of fashion and glamour makeup techniques, similar to those seen on the standout faces of Hollywood’s greatest. The 10-week Certificate II course also features training in Photographic Makeup, Specialised Makeup and Business Skills, giving graduates all the skills needed to succeed in the makeup industry.

The Academy of Makeup’s Certificate II is a great starter course for anyone interested in the world of makeup artistry, fashion and glamour, and is also a great way for industry professionals to refresh or extend their skills.

The Founder and CEO of Australia’s largest makeup training provider, David McConnell said, “The Academy of Makeup has really set the bar for Certificate II in Makeup Services qualifications. We allow our students a full 10 weeks of practical time in class, which ensures that our graduates are red carpet ready when they finish.”

Graduates of the Academy of Makeup’s Certificate II course are highly regarded in the makeup industry, with past students going on to set up successful freelance makeup businesses, work on magazine photo-shoots and cover shoots, gain employment with large department stores such as Myer and David Jones, and be selected to work backstage at fashion shows and events.

Both students and graduates of the Academy of Makeup are given opportunity to take part in sought-after industry work experience jobs, helping them network and gain access to the fashion and entertainment industry. In 2011, Academy students worked backstage at L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Sydney and Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, as well as runway shows and photo shoots for Biba Hair, Fashion TV, Kuku clothing and Edge clothing, just to name a few.

The trainers at the Academy of Makeup are among some of the industry’s best, coming from various backgrounds including high fashion, TV, freelance, photography and editorial. Students enrolled in the Diploma or Certificate IV qualification with the Academy of Makeup will learn from trainers whose expertise extends to film, SPFx and hair styling.
