Napoleon Perdis has supported the Australian Film Institute for the past four years and was delighted to be sponsoring again this year. Senior PR Manager Jennifer Foo said, “Our sponsorship of the AACTAs is an extension of other key brand partnerships (Australian Fashion Week, David Jones Fashion Launch, The Australian Ballet and Sydney Film Festival). Supporting the AFI's has been a valuable experience for the Creative Team, and our makeup artists have enjoyed looking after talent from both film and television.  Plus we're a part of something which ties in one of Napoleon’s brand beliefs – 'The Glamour Principle' where glamour is at the heart of the prestige brand.  Napoleon Perdis channels the celebrity in every woman.”

Led by makeup artist Tannia Tiropanis, Napoleon’s Creative Team wielded their brushes on dozens of high profile nominees, presenters and winners in the Styling Suite throughout the course of the morning and afternoon. Some of the celebrities who visited the team in the Styling Suite included Cate Blanchett – Awards Ceremony Presenter, Russell Crowe – Awards Ceremony Host, Geoffrey Rush – Awards President and Presenter, Deborah Mailman – Best Lead Actress Winner, Felicity Price – Best Feature Film Screenplay Winner for "Wish You Were Here", Mandy McElhinney – Best Supporting Actress for "Howzat! Kerry Packer's War, Part 2", Ashleigh Cummings – Presenter and Nominee, Brenna Harding – Presenter and Nominee, Susie Porter – Attendee and Nominee, Sarah Snook – Attendee and Nominee, Laura Wheelwright – Attendee and Nominee, Rebecca Gibney – Presenter and Nominee and Joel Edgerton – Presenter.

The "original" Sapphires

Tannia, who has been with Napoleon Perdis her whole career, has had the opportunity to attend some amazing events with the team over the years including New York Fashion Week in 2008, 2009 and 2010. She said the team had been doing a range of makeup looks in the Styling Suite, but finding the less is more approach to be a definite trend, “With the neutral trend you can customise it to be how you like – either play it up by adding a bright red lip or keep it natural and tonal. Nude lips with played-back smokey eyes using amethyst, plums and neutral browns were also a winning look.

“Statement lips have also been popular with the celebs and we’ve seen a few old Hollywood Glamour looks; winged eyeliner and bold red lips. The Sapphires went for smokey eyes, false lashes and a bold red lip for an ultra-glam look. In contrast, Sarah Snook went for a natural eye makeup and an amazing plum lip.”

“Some of the products we used included Makeup Primer and the Divine Goddess lipstick in Hara (orange) and Aphrodite (red). We applied the Camera-Finish 3-in-1 pressed powder on many of the actors to get them camera ready. Some of the male actors, like Joel Eggerton, just popped in for a powder-down and concealer.”

Tannia says enthusiasm, passion, determination and loyalty to the brand has got her to where she is today. The industry can mean long hours dealing with different personalities and energies but is an exciting and rewarding art.

The Sapphires' leading ladies looked flawless when they went to collect their awards on stage, having sweeped a handful including Best Lead Actress for Deborah Mailman, Best Supporting Actress for Jessica Mauboy and they even bagged Best Film to boot.

The celebrities who had their makeup done by the Napoleon Creative Team were camera-ready with an individually tailored, long-lasting makeup that saw them through the eventful evening, from walking the red-carpet and collecting and presenting awards on stage to sipping champagne at the after-party.
