Keen to show off your skills? Want to give your makeup career a boost? Beauty Expo Australia 2016 gives you an exciting chance to shine with the expo’s Face2Face Makeup Awards.
Well-known as the competition to jump-start makeup artists’ careers, the Face2Face Makeup Awards will once again be held at this year’s Beauty Expo Australia, which is set to take place at Sydney’s Exhibition Centre on Glebe Island this August (20 & 21 August). With categories covering Modern Bride, Fashion/Catwalk, Body Art, Film Fantasy and Beauty Editorial – there’s a category for every makeup persuasion.
A must-enter competition for any makeup artist who is serious about a stellar career in makeup, each award category has been designed to give entrants the chance to showcase and practice valuable skills.
“Winning the Face2Face Makeup Awards at Beauty Expo Australia completely changed my career and my life,” said Martha Mok, who won ten years ago and is presenting a workshop at this year’s event. “Entering the Awards felt like the bravest thing I’d ever done – it pushed me to challenge myself, taught me how to think strategically and compete at a professional level.”
A decade on and Martha is one of the country’s top wedding makeup specialists. She also runs her own makeup school, The Martha Mok MakeUp Academy, and hosts workshops all over Australia and Asia.
“The rewards have been amazing for me,” says Martha Mok. “Entering the awards ten years ago was an incredible opportunity to compete on stage and gave me access to people who might never have noticed me otherwise. Beauty Expo Australia was where it all started for me and that’s why it’s so special that this year I’ll be back as a presenter.”
Martha will be presenting an exclusive workshop at Beauty Expo Australia on Sunday 21 August on Asian makeup techniques and eyelid enhancement secrets, while makeup artist of the year, Becca Gilmartin, will take the mantel as Creative Director of the Face2Face Makeup Awards once again.
“These awards are an amazing platform for every kind of makeup artist to explore their craft, push their own personal limits and display excellence on a national competition level not seen previously in Australia,” says Becca.
Think you have the goods but feel a bit nervous to enter? Martha’s advice is “take a chance! You never know where this competition might take you. It can change everything.”
