Cosme Tokyo 2013 Wrap

Cosme Tokyo 2013 finished this year with more than 368 exhibitors and 20,638 international visitors.

Organised by Reed Exhibitions Japan, this year’s show was held at Tokyo Big Sight in Japan.

As one of the largest international cosmetics trade fairs, Cosme Tokyo opened its doors to the Japanese and Asian cosmetics market in June. Gathering the latest cosmetics from all around the world, this year’s show expanded by almost 70%. As a reflection of the booming Asian beauty market, Cosme Tokyo expects further growth in the future.

This year’s show welcomed exhibitors from 15 countries, ranging from Europe, USA, Middle East and Africa. There was also an increase in international visitors, but the core as still those from the Asian pacific. Import cosmetic companies are becoming increasingly aware of this booming Asian market and they see the potential for profit.

Highlights of the show include seeing growth in the Organic Cosmetics Zone and Anti-ageing Cosmetics Fair. International buyers who attended were pleasantly surprised at the high quality products on offer from Japanese brands. Korean cosmetic companies showed a huge presence at the show with more than 14 companies exhibiting.

This year, a ‘Newcomers to the Japanese Market Pavilion’ was introduced for companies who do not have importers in Japan. This area was constantly flooded with importers and agents hoping to be the first to introduce new products to the market.

Cosme Tech 2013 is a concurrent show that ran during Cosme Tokyo. This year, the focus was on cosmetic ingredients, OEM and packaging. The Tech show displayed innovations in ingredients, OEM/ODM, containers/packaging and other new ideas behind product improvement.

Cosme Tokyo 2013 closed off with many successful deals for next year.
