PBS joins the sisterhood

Professional Beauty Solutions has joined forces with the Bestow Sisterhood – a collective of beauty therapists and skincare clinics in Australia and New Zealand – to help create a brighter future for girls in rural Cambodia.

Announcing the partnership, PBS managing director Matt Williams said the company, which is the local distributor of professional beauty brands including Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics, Caronlab and Bestow Beauty, has sponsored “five little sisters” (pictured) in rural Cambodia.

“We are passionate about women and wellness but we recognise that while we are born into a land of opportunity, our sisters in Cambodia are born into poverty through no fault of their own,” he said.

“We want to do our part to make the world a better place – for all women.”

Matt explained that the company’s sponsorship is changing the girls’ futures by supporting their education.

“Girls who don’t go to school are vulnerable to sex trafficking or can end up married and bearing children at a tragically young age but this sponsorship allows our little sisters to stay in school and have the opportunity to develop a healthy, happy, purposeful life.”

Launched last year, the Bestow Sisterhood was created by Bestow Beauty sisters Janine Tait and Robyn Fairweather and their sister, Denise Arnold, who founded the Cambodia Charitable Trust.

Since its launch in 2008 the Cambodia Charitable Trust has changed the future for thousands of vulnerable Cambodian children by transforming schools and ensuring the poorest children are sponsored to attend.

“Education, especially education of girls, is the greatest hope for fighting poverty and slavery,” said Janine.

She said that the Bestow Sisterhood enabled salons to sponsor a girl’s education, and radically change her life, for just $40 a month.

The sponsorship provides each “little sister” with a school uniform and stationery, health checks, food and a contribution to family living costs.

The Bestow Sisterhood has sponsored over 50 Cambodian girls since its launch.

“We think of them as our little sisters,” said Janine. “They are part of our extended family.”

Salons can also become part of the Bestow Sisterhood by stocking ‘Generositea’ ‒ the official Bestow Sisterhood tea from the Bestow organic herbal tea range.

All profits from the sale of Generositea, an organic blend of lemongrass, peppermint, hibiscus, cinnamon and cardamom, supports the work of the Cambodia Charitable Trust.
