asap creates hand sanitiser, free of charge

With the national shortage of hand sanitiser, cosmeceutical brand asap has come up with a solution to help their stockists through this period.

“Here at asap we have been brainstorming how we can help out stockists in some small way during this turbulent time,” says the brand’s MD and cosmetic chemist, Carley Stewart. Together with the product development team, Carley worked to formulate a medical grade hand sanitiser, which was distributed free of charge to the brand’s stockists, for in-salon use.

“The outcome is ‘sanitise me asap’, which offers antibacterial protection with 70 per cent alcohol to provide an effective barrier against microbes effective from one minute of contact,” says Carley. “This skin-kind formulation is infused with lemongrass essential oil to protect and keep hands from feeling dry.”

In a time where big brands are cashing in on the demand for protective wear and products, asap was keen to help out the very people and brands that have been loyal to them in the good times.

“The response has been overwhelmingly positive,” says Carley. “Not only from our stockists but from our customers as well. They all appreciate that we are all looking out for each other and help where we can. We have a clinical laboratory on site in our head office in Port Melbourne,” Carley shared, explaining how the product was taken from concept to reality so swiftly.

And it looks as though asap’s good karma is being rewarded, with stockists suggesting that customers have expressed an interest in purchasing the product for their at-home use. “There has been an outpouring of gratitude by our partners this week which has shaped our hand sanitiser into a product opportunity and we are now looking at producing a commercial quantity for our stockists, this will be available in the coming weeks.”
