The Urban Company has announced it will be the first company to relaunch and offer safe and hygienic at-home beauty services, while beauty salons remain closed under the federal lockdown. The move comes after the government announcement that up to two people are now permitted to enter other households.
Previously known as Glamazon – which was purchased by the in-home service giant Urban Company in February – the company is offering a menu of services covering nails, facials, brows and lashes.
By booking through the company’s app, clients are able to book services directly to their door, with reduced pricing to support customers in the current financial climate.
“Customer demand for beauty services has escalated rapidly via our social channels. It’s important for Urban Company to accommodate our customers and offer them a safe and hygienic way to access beauty and grooming services, to help lift their spirits in tough times,” said Lauren Warwick, Urban Company Australia’s marketing lead. “It’s also crucial to be able to deliver stable freelancing opportunities to our beauty professionals who are also doing it tough during these uncertain times.”
All beauty therapists carrying out in-home treatments for Urban Company will be required to follow strict hygiene measures, including wearing masks at all times, to use gloves at the discretion of the client, to implement single-use, disposable equipment, sanitise all tools and products using hospital-grade disinfectant. Workers will also be required to respond to daily healthchecks and to refrain from working if they are unwell. “We are committed to paying unwell professionals to incentivise them to speak up about symptoms and not fear losing money. This is to ensure only fit and well professionals are doing jobs,” said Lauren.
