QUESTION: In today’s business environment, companies cannot settle for incremental improvement. They must periodically undergo performance transformations to get and stay on top. In driving this transformation, what is the role of the CEO, and how does that differ from the management team?

Learning: It’s important to have a clear, strong vision for your team and to mentor staff coming up through the ranks.

He said a CEO must create a vision for the company and a mission, as well as establish its culture and its values.

Kaye Scott from The Clinic said some of her young management team were 25 and that it could be challenging sometimes to take direction from them, but they were the future.

Leeanne Leslie from Alpha-H Skin Clinic said it was important to have leadership skills but also stay engaged with your staff.

Lee Tan from Groom Laser & Skin Clinic said at times the boss could be dragged into all sorts of dramas, but at the end of the day, you had to steer the ship and have a really clear vision.
