It’s the biggest event of the beauty year for Sydneysiders and in just two sleeps, it begins…

If you’ve spent the past week frantically planning what to wear, see and do at the Sydney beauty expo, you’re not alone. Little work has been completed at PBHQ this week, where we’ve lost copious hours excitedly discussing the ins and outs of the event and scheming various ways to hide our upcoming purchasing sprees from our significant others (hint: hide your stash in the place he’s least likely to ever look…think about it…the washing machine.)

On a more serious note, this year’s Beauty Expo Australia is set to showcase the latest innovations from more than 150 brands across the spa, beauty, medi and wellness fields, including industry leaders such as OPI, Pelactiv, Inglot, Bio Sculpture Gel, Sunescape and Lycon. *Cue credit card wincing in pain*

“Beauty Expo is Australia’s largest spa and beauty event, and this year’s edition is no exception. With a sensational line-up of products, services, education and industry talent, it is an event that will benefit salon owners, artists and therapists alike. As a beauty professional, you need to make sure you’re always two steps ahead of the consumer when it comes to trends and product innovation. Attending Beauty Expo will equip you with that cutting edge,” the expo’s director, Julia Erben told us this week.

So what exactly can you expect in two sleeps time? To make your planning for the big day easier, we’ve summed up a couple of the highlights we’re most excited about for you…

South African pavilion

For the first time, Beauty Expo will include a ‘country-specific’ pavilion, with 14 brands from South Africa coming together to showcase their various products and services. Featuring skincare brands, vitamins, cosmetics, candles, essential oils and medical products, the pavilion will be a strong promotion for the South African beauty industry. It will also be of specific interest to those looking for reputable manufacturers, suppliers and distributors in this market.

Natural and organic brands

Mother Nature has a cure for almost everything and many beauty brands are now keeping their ingredients list as close to the earth as possible. Beauty Expo Australia is a clear demonstration of this trend, with more naturally-based products and services on display than ever before.

From Australia’s first organic tanning solution to natural skincare and make-up products, the Expo will showcase some of the industry’s most innovative natural brands, including Bondi Body Tea, Blinc Cosmetics, Eco Tan and The Jojoba Company.

Beauty Expo Australia kicks off this Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23 at the Sydney Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island. To find out more, head to
