John Pritchard Founder And CEO Passes Away, Aged 75

Founder of John Pritchard International (JPI), John Edward Pritchard, passed away last week at the age of 75, surrounded by his family. 

An astute businessman and visionary entrepreneur, founder of John Pritchard International, John Pritchard has passed away at age 75 on October 20, 2014.

The England born businessman was trained as a hair stylist and spent his early career working with the likes of Vidal Sasson and Paul Mitchell in London, New York and Australia.

Head hunted by Herman Steiner and invited to head up the Australian division of Steiner Hair Care in Victoria, Pritchard migrated to Australia after accepting the offer to become managing director.

The Steiner business flourished under John’s leadership and strategic direction and eventually sold to Wella in the 80s.

Part of Steiner’s portfolio of brands was the French skincare company, Rene Guinot, of which Pritchard took over the accounts and set up his own company, John Pritchard International.

Pritchard’s son and daughter, Jonathon and Laura Pritchard, took over the reigns in 2009 under the mentorship of their father.

Now more than two decades old, the flourishing John Pritchard International business are the exclusive Australian distributors of Guinot Institut Paris, with salons around the country.

Of his father, Jonathon Pritchard says, “[He was a] man who lit up a room, a father who taught important virtues and a friend who shared his shoulder, his legacy is in my heart and my soul.”
