Your salon has twice won best Australian tanning salon at the Australian Beauty Industry awards what makes yours a standout salon?
“We really pride ourselves on our attention to detail and customer service. We want to go above and beyond to ensure the best spray tan experience our clients have ever had and have created a salon interior that reflects this.”
Tell us how you went about developing the interior concept for the Tan Temple?
“We actually had an amazing spray tan technician, Jo Harden, who loves to design and decorate so I definitely can’t take any credit. I just gave her free reign and I couldn’t be happier with the result. She created a luxury beach vibe that perfectly reflects Tan Temple.”
How do you go about updating the look?
“I think I will need to update it again soon in a year or so and I would always want Jo to help me! She is just always in tune with new trends and can see a real vision for what fits where. It helps that she also fully understands spray tans and what fabrics and materials just won’t work with spray tan.”
Are there any tips you can share with salons to creating a welcome atmosphere on a limited budget?
“Do your research online first and don’t be afraid to travel far for a bargain.”
What is the one interior piece that you couldn’t live without?
“Our big mirror in the Champagne Lounge is my favourite piece. I love the way it leans against the wall and opens up the space.”
Any interior pieces you have on your Christmas wish list?
“You can never have too many cushions.”
You recently opened the Champagne Lounge within the salon – tell us about this interior concept?
“We created the Champagne Lounge to encourage group bookings and to add a point of difference. We wanted to have a separate space that groups could sit and have fun while they got their tans and it’s been amazing! Everyone loves it when they come in and see their cheese platter and bubbly and we are now able to have two waiting areas.
Any plans to expand your salon?
“I would love to have a second location one day, we’ll see. Tan Temple Bondi is so busy it’s hard to imagine doubling that.”
How would you sum up your salon vibe?
“I would say beachside luxury.”
Will you be doing anything special for Christmas season?
“Christmas and New Years is our busiest time! We are already getting so many Champagne Lounge bookings in now so I’m guessing it will probably be our biggest one yet.”
