Sothys Paris was honoured to sponsor the Federation Cup Tennis Finals held in WA.
One match saw Australia’s Ash Barty battle it out with France’s Caroline Garcia.
Garcia, a French professional tennis player, is also a Sothys ambassador.
The Fed Cup was launched in 1963 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
It’s now the world’s largest annual international team competition in women’s sport, with 108 nations entered in 2019.
Sothys trainer and expert, Sandi Daley, said she was ecstatic she was asked to toss the coin to begin the second match and that Garcia was the perfect Sothys ambassador.
“Because tennis and skincare both share the values of excellence and performance, Sothys chose Caroline Garcia to be one of its ambassadors,” she said.
“As a professional brand and skincare specialist for more than 70 years, Sothys has always made complete wellbeing its priority.”
Sandi said in addition to the match, other highlights included a cocktail welcome with Todd Woodbridge as the host for the evening, a special Welcome to Country by the Hon. Ken Wyatt and indigenous dancers performing.
Some of the Sothys business owners were also there to enjoy the event.
Sandi said after a “nail biting” second day of play the teams were two matches each, so a doubles final was called to find the winning country for the series.
“France was victorious in this doubles event played by Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic, which was passionately fought by Ash Barty and Sam Stosur from Australia, and after a gruelling game were presented with the very beautiful Federation Cup,” she said.
“Congratulations to a very talented French team and also to the Aussies for providing a wonderful weekend of tennis.”
