Cosmoprof North America enjoys record numbers through the doors of its 14th annual Las Vegas-based expo this July. Here’s what this exciting exhibition had to offer for 2016.
Taking place 24-26 July 2016, Cosmoprof North America (CPNA) proved its award-winning status as the only all-encompassing, business-to-business beauty event in North America with a record turnout and staggering social media coverage.
Run by leading international expo organiser Bologna Fiere, CPNA – held at Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas – received a staggering 33,750 attendees engaging with a whopping 1,154 exhibitors from 38 different countries.
With forward-thinking programs and strategic partnerships with industry influencers, attendees were able to see and experience new sections like Discover Green –a special area curated by Insiders Guide to Spa using eco-friendly, clean, organic and natural beauty products – and Glamour Me, a new beauty lounge where attendees experienced exhibitor products first-hand, along with show favourites such as the curated section of high-end start-up beauty brands in Discover Beauty. There was also Tones of Beauty, which showcased innovative multicultural brands, and Discover Scent, where leading scent branding agency, Air Aroma, showcased its patented diffusion technology.
To accommodate all this, the show floor space was increased by 10 per cent, covering a whopping 26,105 square metres of space. No question; you need two days for this expo!
The show was heavily represented on social media, with over 23 million impressions and 400 posts by television personalities, vloggers, and bloggers covering the event (401 if you count this post!), which just goes to prove the power of this US show amongst beauty professionals and the wider beauty-obsessed community.
Getting famous is always a very real possibility at this event thanks to the TV shopping channel auditions held over the two-day event where exhibitors were able to pitch their products to major US TV shopping channels QVC, HSN and Evine Live. New this year, exhibitors were also able to audition with international TV shopping channels including The Shopping Channel (Canada), HSE (Germany), and GS Shop (Korea). Also new this year is the CPNA collaboration with EVINE Live, where select exhibitors will have the opportunity to feature in a dedicated segment showcasing products discovered at CPNA 2016.
Another high profile event was the Beauty Pitch, which returned for another year on the Saturday before the 2-day expo started. Over one thousand attendees gathered to watch this innovative beauty competition, which showcased six beauty companies over two categories – Startup and Established. Each brand had the opportunity to pitch their products to a panel of celebrity judges in an effort to win distribution into the online shopping platform and 1,200 stores of US-based professional beauty retailer and distributor, Sally Beauty Holdings.
The winners were Sunlights Balayage, Inc. and P3 Pure, which both received $5,000 and $10,000 cash prizes respectively, while O.R.G Skincare was chosen as the winning brand, gaining distribution into all SBH stores and online.
